A 10-storey data centre has been proposed for Swanbank in Ipswich, on land mapped as core koala habitat.
Ipswich City Council has raised concerns about its height, night-time noise and environmental impact. Around 3,190 native trees would be cleared.
Local Mina Lib has started a petition calling on the council and the Queensland Government to refuse it and require public consultation for future data centres. More than 11,000 people have signed.
