OUR AIMS
TO BENEFIT THE WELFARE OF ANIMALS PRIOR TO RE-HOMING
We do this by helping provide a safe and caring environment at the Wingecarribee Animal Shelter Moss Vale, through the provision of elective veterinary surgery and catering to specific needs of animals. TO ASSIST WITH STRATEGIES FOR RE-HOMING
This is done by advertising individual animals on our monthly poster distributed throughout t
he Southern Highlands, social and local media. To assist Wingecarribee Animal Shelter Management Maintain a Minimal Euthanasia Policy. The above two aims (1 & 2) greatly contribute to the successful rehoming of cats and dogs at the Shelter. OUR HISTORY
The ‘Friends’ have been involved with the Shelter for the last 17 years, raising funds for abandoned and surrendered dogs and cats. Our aims are to continue to assist with strategies for the successful re-homing of animals at the Shelter. We have sizeable Members base who volunteer and collect, deliver, pick-up donations and assist at FOWAS fundraising events. Every dollar raised through raffles, fund-raising events and monthly collections from 160 FOWAS coin donation tins from local retailers supports the Shelter. We purchase specialty food for animals with dietary needs, pay for elective surgeries, buy paddle pools and shade cloths, beds, pet requirements and many ‘extras’ to improve the quality of life for the animals whilst they are at the Shelter. FOWAS employs a Dog Trainer to work with the dogs at the Shelter teaching basic manners, behaviour modification and socialization skills, therefore improving their chances of being re-homed. We would like to thank and acknowledge the continuous support given by our local community, retailers, our sponsors Belle Property Southern Highlands, Highland Printing, Revati Sangoski, Wilson Financial and Woolworths Bowral and several supports and donors. If you would like become a FOWAS member or volunteer please contact Trish the FOWAS Member/Volunteer Co-ordeinator via our Website www.fowas.org.au or our email address [email protected].
