🎉 Happy 30th Birthday, Evan Bayley . 🎉

Before I properly introduce the man behind so much of People & Puppers, I just want to say how incredibly lucky I am to be doing life alongside you.

Thank you for every early morning, every late night, every muddy boot, every dog cuddle, every challenge you've helped me navigate and every dream you've helped build.

Thirty looks pretty good on you. ❤️🐾

🐾 Meet Evan 🐾

Many of you have met him by now, but I thought it was time for a proper introduction. 🤍

Evan was born in Japan 🇯🇵 and spent the first three years of his life there, surrounded by the culture, cuisine and experiences that would become part of his story.

At three years old, his family embarked on a new adventure and moved to China 🇨🇳

For his parents, it was an exciting opportunity. For Evan, it meant a new home, new friends, a new language and a brand-new kindergarten.

Imagine being three years old, full of curiosity but still trying to make sense of the world, suddenly finding yourself in a completely different country. ✈️🌏

Like many little boys in that situation, Evan took some time to find his feet.

I will never forget his dad telling me about those first few weeks in China.

After starting kindergarten in his new country, Evan barely spoke a word. His teachers became concerned and eventually approached his parents to ask whether he actually understood Mandarin.

One afternoon, after another quiet day at school, they asked him why he wasn't speaking.

His answer was simple.

"When are we going home?"

They explained that this was home now, that China was where the family would be living, and reassured him that everything was going to be okay. ❤️

The next day he walked into kindergarten and started talking.

Fluent Mandarin. 🤯

I've always loved that story because I think it says so much about who Evan is.

He doesn't do things halfway.

He doesn't invest his time, energy or heart into something unless he truly believes in it. But when he does, he commits completely. 💪

It's a quality I've admired from the day I met him, and one of the many reasons I fell in love with him. 🥰

Last year, while we were on holiday in New Zealand 🇳🇿, we spent countless hours talking about life, our future and what we wanted to build together.

Somewhere amongst those conversations, we realised that People & Puppers could become something bigger than just my business.

It could become ours, the things we love the things we build and the things that supports our future and our hobbies.

At the time, Evan had spent more than six years building a career he was incredibly good at. Walking away from that wasn't something he took lightly.

But just like that little boy in China, once he made up his mind and committed to a path, he threw himself into it wholeheartedly.

Not long after, he joined People & Puppers full-time. 🐶🐾

Since then, he's become an enormous part of what makes this place so special.

Whether he's doing early morning pick-ups 🚐, helping nervous dogs settle into daycare 🐕, supervising packs 🐾, fixing things around the property 🔨, cleaning water bowls 💧 or giving out cuddles 🤗, he gives every single task his full attention and care.

The dogs adore him. ❤️

Our clients adore him. ❤️

I Adore him ♥️

And I feel incredibly lucky that I get to build this life alongside him.

People & Puppers may have started as my dream, but today it's very much our dream. ✨

We're pretty lucky to have him. 🤍🐾

Meat Ratchet 👋

Yep… I said meat, not meet 🤪🥩

This handsome young pouch is 3 years old and honestly looks like he should be starring in some majestic wolf documentary narrated by David Attenborough…

But don’t let the good looks fool you 😂

Ratchet is one of the most athletic dogs I know, yet somehow also one of the biggest goofballs. If this bloke was human, he’d absolutely be standing around at a BBQ cracking dry one-liners, stirring everyone up and somehow having the whole group in stitches while pretending he “didn’t even say anything.” 😇 he would also be that mate that was always there if you needed him with advice thats so wise he could be a monk.

As you can see in photo one, Ratchet is demonstrating the proper technique for standing on the tunnel bridge while overseeing all of his minions like the king he believes he is 👑

Then in photo two, I managed to capture what appears to be a very serious congregation and chin wag around the bridge with the crew. I can only assume Ratchet was midway through telling his tenth joke of the day 😂🐾

Honestly, dogs are hilarious. The personalities on them never cease to amaze me.

We love you Ratchet!

I’ve noticed recently so many beautiful local businesses introducing the humans behind the business and honestly… I think it’s such a lovely thing for a small community. 🥹💛

In a world where so much happens online now, there’s something really special about putting a face to the name and remembering there are real people, real stories and real passion behind these little businesses.

And truthfully… it feels a little vulnerable too. 🥰

Even though I occasionally pop up in photos and videos, most of the time I much prefer being behind the camera covered in dog hair somewhere instead of in front of it 😭🐾

But I thought it might be nice to do a little introduction post for those who might be new here, or even for those who have trusted us with their dogs for years but maybe don’t know much about how People & Puppers actually came to be.

So hello 👋
I’m Lottie — the slightly chaotic English woman behind People & Puppers, professional dog hair collector, snack distributor and emotional support human for dogs that don’t want to leave daycare. 😂🐶

At 18 years old I packed up my life in England and moved across the world to Australia with a love for animals, a backpack and what can only be described as concerning levels of optimism 😭

Animals have always been my thing. Before moving here I worked in animal food nutrition and over the years I’ve worked with everything from horses to dogs, dairy cows, reptiles, rabbits and just about every furry creature in between.

Then somewhere along the way life got a little messy.

Dairy farming made me really sick and I hit a point where I genuinely didn’t know what direction life was going in. Around that same time I got my little sidekick Gizmo 🥹🐾 and suddenly the idea of working away from animals altogether just felt… wrong.

I didn’t want to just “walk dogs.”
I wanted to create something.

A place where dogs could be understood.
A place where owners could go to work knowing their dogs were genuinely cared for.
A place filled with adventure, structure, calmness, muddy paws and happy tired dogs.

So at 21 years old I quit my job and put everything I had into buying my first vehicle — a tiny little Volkswagen Caddy 😂

At the time I felt VERY official.

The only slight issue being…
I had absolutely no clients 😭

After months of letterbox drops, shin splints, stress, hospital trips and questioning every single life choice imaginable… I got my first client.

And honestly I still remember that feeling.

Like:
“Wait… people are actually trusting me with their dogs?” 🥹

Fast forward 6 years and somehow this little dream has grown into something I could have never imagined.

What started with me, Gizmo and a tiny van has now become a whole beautiful little community.

The dogs.
The clients.
The beach runs.
The bus rides.
The daycare naps.
The muddy paw prints on absolutely everything 😂

And now my partner Evan too — who has become such a huge part of People & Puppers and the daycare dream we’re building together. 💛

There’s definitely been hard moments behind the scenes too.

Visa complications.
Financial stress.
Homesickness.
At one point I had 30 days to leave the country.

But somehow through all the chaos, the dogs and the people here became my family away from family.

And somewhere between all the barking, bus runs and beach adventures… Australia stopped feeling like the place I moved to.

And started feeling like home 🐾💛
