I spent the day travelling to the vets and back, getting several consultations for deserving girls and picking up Greenie after her successful major reproductive surgery yesterday. Sadly, as expected, Forest Lump did not survive the night. RIP little angel; I apologise for what our ignorant species did to you. Greenie was overjoyed to see me, and even though I missed the majority of the excited clucks on video, I did manage to capture the aftermath of her joy on camera. A massive thanks to the talented surgeon and staff. A huge thanks to anyone who donated. What we still owe the vet is still in the thousands, so, please consider donating to our surgery fund. Thank you

Sorry no photo; it was raining hard...plus taking photos is never foremost in my mind.
A massive thanks to Sarah from ARC for coming in early today and meeting me after I dropped the surgery girls off at the vets. She, and ARC, are always awesome; today was no exception with the donation of a full pallet of chicken food. 😍😍😍

UPDATE: Amazingly both survived their surgeries; however, remember I was not expecting Forest Lump to survive, and I am advised that one, presumably her, is still in oxygen tank recovery. Thank you to anyone who donated; we have done all we can do; we've given her all that we could reasonably expect if it was us in her position; the best surgeon, the best treatment, and, the best chance at life. Good luck little cherub 😍😍😍

Greenie and Forest Lump are currently at the vets for major reproductive surgery for reproductive tumours and egg yolk peritonitis from their genetically mutated reproductive systems. Sadly, I don't hold much hope for Forest Lump. To donate to their surgeries (and we still owe a few thousand from previous vet bills) please follow this link. Thank you

A little change of pace. "Peakie", the last remaining resident peacock who was here before we bought the property, damaged his leg around a week ago. We think his night branch broke whilst he was sleeping high up in his tree. He's a big bird and doesn't like people getting too close to him, so I've been reluctant to grab him and risk making things worse. He disappeared for a few days before hobbling back a few days ago. He's been sleeping under a trailer at night and moving out into the sun during the day. I have an appointment at the vets on Saturday lunchtime and I've been fluctuating between taking him and leaving him alone for days now. Jill and Terry were here today, so, in an operation timed to military precision, all three of us grabbed fence panels and came at Peakie from all sides at once, creating a "blink and you'll miss it" instant enclosure....much to Peakie's disgust...."damn monkeys" lol. Now the decision has been made; Peakie isn't going to the vets; he'll just rehabilitate in his insta-home until his leg heals. I'm so pleased that he doesn't have to suffer a vet trip; the last time I had to grab him was years ago and he chucked a massive fight, which would of course likely do even more damage to his leg. Thank you again to Jill and Terry ninja fencers extraordinaire.
