🐍 Snake season: are you prepared? 🐾
As the weather warms up, snakes become more active — and curious dogs and cats can sometimes get too close.
Snakebites can be life-threatening, so knowing the warning signs could help save your pet's life.
⚠️ Signs of a possible snakebite can include:
Sudden weakness or collapse
Shaking or trembling
Vomiting
Dilated pupils
Difficulty walking or wobbliness
Rapid or laboured breathing
Excessive salivation
Loss of bladder or bowel control
Paralysis or difficulty moving
Unusual behaviour or distress
Swelling or bleeding around the bite site — although a bite is not usually visible!
🚨 If you suspect your pet has been bitten by a snake, treat it as an emergency.
Don't wait for symptoms to appear. Keep your pet as calm and still as possible and seek immediate veterinary attention.
❌ Don't give your pet food or water.
❌ Don't wait to see if they get better.
