Angela's Dog Training

Angela's Dog Training Most dog problems are not training problems, they are leadership problems. I help owners create calm, responsive dogs - Simple, Clear, Effective

I am an experienced trainer, who brings a very practical and unique approach to the way I train dogs. I have learnt to be very clear about boundaries, and understand how to transform an out-of-control dog into a calm, relaxed, focused member of the family, quickly and effectively. I call this 'Setting up leadership'. Would you like me to show you how to transform your out-of-control dog into a rel

axed, well-behaved member of the family? Is your dog making your life difficult and stressful? Is your dog too excited to take notice of you? Have you tried obedience classes and puppy school and your dog is still out-of-control?

Most people are amazed at the difference in their dogs after just the first session.

It really is quite simple to fix most problems. You really don't have to put up with annoying behaviour. Wouldn't you rather enjoy your time with your dog? My training is not about training a particular behaviour, it is about changing the mindset of your dog to regard you as someone who is worthy of their attention and obedience. When you can get a dog who is focused and attentive to you he will do almost anything for you, even in a distracted environment. My training sessions show how you can achieve this. I service all areas of Moonee Valley and the Northern Suburbs including the Macedon Ranges. Please contact me if you are outside these areas and we can discuss.

Bodhi and Georgie are a great example of what happens when dogs have calm, clear leadership in their lives.

When a dog understands who is responsible for making decisions, controlling space, and providing direction, they don’t feel the need to take on that responsibility themselves.

The result is a dog that is more relaxed, more focused, and much easier to live with.

People often think calm behaviour comes from lots of obedience training, but in reality it starts with leadership.

When leadership is clear, dogs can switch off, trust the process, and simply follow your guidance.

Notice how relaxed, attentive, and responsive Bodhi and Georgie are.

That’s not because they’re constantly being corrected or rewarded. It’s because they feel safe, secure, and understand their place within the family structure.

Calm leadership creates calm dogs.

I worked with a lovely family recently and their beautiful little Cavoodle pup. Like many puppies, this little one had become very clingy and felt the need to follow the owner everywhere around the house.

Rather than correcting the puppy or constantly distracting him, we focused on something much simpler — calmly setting up leadership through the control of space in the home.

Once that structure was in place, the pup happily wandered off, found a comfortable spot in the lounge room, and settled down for a sleep without needing to follow us around.

Dogs and puppies feel safe when leadership is clear and calm. When they trust that someone else is taking responsibility for the space around them, they feel they can finally relax.

I’m always so grateful when lovely clients take the time to leave such kind words after a session.

It was an absolute pleasure working with this beautiful family and their gorgeous Groodle. Watching the connection and understanding grow between people and their dogs is the part of this work I love the most.

Thank you so much for your trust, your openness, and this beautiful review. I appreciate it very much.

Today I worked with a lovely Spoodle who had taken on the job of barking at the windows whenever the postman or anyone walked past the house.

What was interesting was how quickly things changed once we started focusing on leadership through the control of space.

As we calmly controlled movement and space inside the home, the dog’s mindset changed almost immediately. He simply no longer felt the same need to react and take responsibility for what was happening outside.

Dogs often bark at windows because they feel they need to manage the environment themselves. When clear, calm leadership is in place, they can finally relax and let that responsibility go.

There’s something really beautiful about calm obedience.

Georgie girl doesn’t respond through pressure or force — she responds through trust, clarity, and leadership. When dogs truly understand who is guiding the space, everything becomes softer, calmer, and more connected.

Simple obedience commands can look effortless from the outside, but underneath it is a relationship built on consistency, calm energy, and communication. And when that leadership is in place, dogs don’t just obey… they relax.

People often think dog training has to be complicated but so much of it comes down to clarity, leadership, and how we control space in our homes.

Dogs naturally look for guidance, and when we learn how to communicate clearly through our movement, our boundaries, and our presence, behaviour can change very quickly and very calmly.

Leadership isn’t about force or harshness. It’s about being consistent, fair, and easy for your dog to understand. When the picture becomes clear for them, life becomes calmer for everyone.

Responsiveness isn’t about tricks or repetition — it’s about connection, clarity, and leadership.

Bodhi responds so beautifully because he understands the conversation between us. A calm request, clear direction, and mutual trust create a dog who wants to engage and respond willingly.

When we learn how to communicate properly with our dogs, everything becomes lighter, simpler, and far more enjoyable for both sides.

Yesterday I met a little dog who was barking at the neighbours while Mum was just trying to feed her baby.
It looked like a “noise problem”… but it wasn’t.

The moment we stepped in and controlled the space — really clearly, really calmly — the barking stopped. Instantly.

No drawn-out process. No endless correcting. Just clarity.

That’s what leadership does. When a dog understands where it stands and what’s expected, the behaviour can change in a heartbeat.

And here’s the part people often miss — this doesn’t damage your relationship, it strengthens it. Dogs feel safer when someone else is calmly taking responsibility for the space.

There’s less pressure on them, less uncertainty… and that’s where real trust is built.

It’s not about stopping the barking… it’s about changing the picture.

My gorgeous Georgie girl 💜

This little soul is where it all began.

Before the business, before the clients, before everything… there was Georgie.

She challenged me, taught me, and quietly showed me that understanding dogs isn’t about control — it’s about connection, leadership, and trust.

She’s the reason I went looking for answers… and the reason I never stopped.

Every dog I work with now carries a little piece of her story with them.

Georgie will always have a special place in my heart.

Most people think dog training is complicated…
but it really isn’t.

Once you understand leadership — and how to control space in your home — everything starts to make sense.

Your dog isn’t trying to be difficult.
They’re simply responding to what’s being allowed, what’s being reinforced, and who is quietly in charge.

When those pieces fall into place, behaviour changes quickly.
Calm replaces chaos.
Clarity replaces confusion.

It’s not about force, and it’s not about endless commands.
It’s about understanding how dogs see the world — and learning to communicate in a way they naturally understand.

And when you do that…
training becomes simple.
