Last lesson for the week done and dusted and a huge day on the road for me completed.
My day started long reining a Cobbie, then on to a bit of ground work and an owner's first ride back after a few months' break.
Third session was checking in with a couple of standies with some ground work, with a view to their owner jumping on board soon.
Finished off the day working with a pony who gets a bit sticky with his feet. Set the scene with some ground work before his young rider hopped on board.
Bit of R&R over the weekend so I'm refreshed and ready to jump into a busy next week

Busy week out and about, with another full day tomorrow in Newry, Toongabbie, Yarragon and Mirboo North.

Earlier in the week I had a meet and greet with this mare and will be working with her over the coming weeks to begin starting her under saddle.

I will be doing everything up to the ridden part and then as arranged by her owner, talking her rider through those first rides and beyond.

Keep an eye on the page to watch progress over the weeks to come.

Although she looks soft and quiet in this video, once I started asking more of her, she had a lot to say about it!

We worked through her worry, slowly, methodically, helped grow her confidence and understanding and left the session on a really positive note.

Float training with a little extra pressure and this girl took it all in her stride.

Had to work a little harder to keep her mind on the job, but it was a great way to see if the training was really working.

When the pressure increases with different sounds, sights and environment, the wheels can quickly fall off with horses becoming anxious or not having their mind on the job.

That's why it is so important to have a solid foundation starting at home, and if things do start going pear shaped, make sure you go straight back to the basics and how they have originally been trained.

Patience is the key and trust in the process.

Have been in Yarram today, and tomorrow heading out Newry / Heyfield / Toongabbie.

Will not be ridden, so as long as he is pony sized, doesnt matter how small.

A couple of gorgeous gals I have been working with on my recent trips to Yarram and surrounds.

I am working on some pre-staring training with the first mare pictured, and all things "young horse" handling with the cutie in the second pic.

Also have been assisting another client bring her TB horse back in to work, and getting another duo ready for the dressage ring, as well as safe trail rides.

Look forward to sharing more progress pics over the coming weeks.

You may remember a few months ago I shared the training of Teapot.

I can share that Teapot has officially graduated from leadline pony to being ridden independently and has attended a very successful day at pony club!

The continued dedication and education his young rider is giving him is an absolute credit to her.

Teapot 🫖 is still very young, so I am sure there will be many more adventures to be had.

I have a few updates to post about where I've been and what I have been doing over the last couple of months, but I have been absolutely flat out doing what I do with no time to post.

So I will quickly share a pic from this evening, and say I can tick off my bucket list of teaching on my own arena with the only lighting coming from the moon 🌙 🤣.
