Check out Monbulk Pony club member Patrick last week at the National Mounted Games Championships!

In Stuart’s (Pat’s Dad) words;
“What an unforgettable weekend in Darwin watching Patrick and the Victorian team take on the National Pony Club Mounted Games Championships.

Competing at a national level is tough enough, but this event brought a unique challenge: every rider competed on loaned horses they only met on the day of the event. On top of that, most of these horses had never experienced mounted games before.

Watching the riders adapt was truly inspiring. Building trust, finding balance, and forging a working partnership with a completely unfamiliar horse in literally five minutes takes serious horsemanship, calm nerves, and exceptional skill.

Incredibly proud of Patrick and the entire Victorian squad for such an inspiring performance and a brilliant display of riding.”

Well done Patrick, Monbulk Pony Club are so proud of you!

From Pony Club Victoria

Pony Club Australia has recently released a new ‘Feeding, Forage & Water at Pony Club Camps and Multi-Day Events’ guide to help clubs, organisers, riders and parents support horse welfare at camps and multi-day events.

The guide covers practical information including:

Planning daily forage requirements

Daytime and overnight feeding

The PCA requirement that horses must not go more than six hours without access to food at a Pony Club event

Providing clean, reliable water

Keeping a horse’s normal diet as consistent as possible while away

Practical checklists for organisers, riders and parents

The guide can be found on the PCA website and PCV website here: https://ponyclubvic.org.au/feeding-forage-water-at-pony-club-camps-and-multi-day-events/

In summary, at an event?? Feed your horses! Yes, even the fat ponies need constant access to forage. A handle of chaff at lunch time is not enough. It’s not spoiling them, it’s providing them with their absolutely basics needs 🐎

Huge shout out to Jenni Nash for volunteering her time and supporting us at Monbulk Pony Club to run a successful freshman’s!
Jenni manned the BBQ all day to ensure tummies were full and everyone was looked after. We are a small club so running an event is always tricky without many hands on deck. We could not have done it with you, thanks Jenni! Our wonder sponsors made this day possible
