Dogs have big feelings sometimes and when on a walk attached to a lead when they see something they want to investigate and can’t they can get frustrated, then bark, pull try to get to the thing.

Playing with your dog is so important to give them appropriate outlets for these big feelings, to bark, lunge, play, to express themselves. They have these behaviours which are normal, this gives them appropriate ways to express them🐾🐾

Puppy School Graduates 🐶🎓

What a very special group, each class all puppies excelled in their foundational training, learned the right way to socialise with one another and practice skills throughout each lesson building on duration and distractions.

Puppy school is more than just teaching your dog skills, it’s about setting them up with the foundations that they’ll use for the rest of their lives. Having a profession observe how the puppies are and tailor guidance to each individual pups needs, setting structure communication and boundaries from a young age that not only your pup understand but also you as their handler!

When you start training your dog, don’t measure progress by whether a behaviour happened or didn’t happen.

Start looking at the smaller changes.

Was it happening less frequently?
Did it last for a shorter amount of time?
Was your dog able to recover quicker?
Did they make a better decision this time, even if they struggled the other five times?

That’s progress too!

There are so many factors in our environment that influence our dogs’ behaviour, and progress isn’t always going to be linear.

Instead of focusing only on what went wrong, start recognising the moments your dog gets it right.

Those small changes matter, and they’re often the first signs that your training is working. 💫💫🐾

Dogs don’t automatically understand what we’re asking from them.

A marker word helps create clear communication by telling your dog the exact moment they got it right.

Instead of guessing, your dog starts to understand:
“That behaviour worked.”

Learning to be alone starts with small steps!

Sia has been training to learn how to deal with being alone and regulating her emotions. When dealing with separation issues yoy don’t start when you’re actually leaving the house, you work in small steps to help your dog understand what this process means.

Once they have some independence, then you start working on departures 🐾

If your puppy never stops... this is for you.

A puppy who can settle becomes a dog who can cope with the big, busy world they live in.

One of the most underrated skills we can teach young puppies is simply... to do nothing.

Puppies need to learn how to switch off, rest, and regulate without constantly seeking attention or activity.

Calm is a behaviour too. And it’s one they’ll use for the rest of their life.🐾🐾🐾

Doing nothing is really hard for puppies..
By tethering them to a safe area near their crate, we’re helping them slow down without distractions.

This gives your puppy:
• a space to unwind
• the chance to practise settling
• guidance on how to do nothing

When movement and choices are limited in a calm way, they learn to regulate themselves and over time, many will choose to take themselves to their crate to rest.

Settling isn’t taught by tiring them out.

It’s taught by giving them the space and support to switch off.

When tethering and training supervision of the puppy is nonnegotiable for safety.
