I really hoped I wouldn’t have to make this post.
HalterGeist started on October 31st 2025 with me making handmade horse gear. As a single mum doing this largely on my own, without family or financial backing to fall back on, I started HalterGeist because I wanted to build something of my own and hopefully create a better future for myself and my kids.
After my accident in April and the ongoing problems with my wrist, I had to change direction. That’s when HalterGeist became HalterGeist Studio and I turned to photography and video.
I threw everything I had into making the new direction work. I built my portfolio, practised, improved, advertised, purchased gear and paid for subscriptions to help improve my work and kept pushing.
Unfortunately, despite everything I’ve put into it, the paid bookings just haven’t come.
With the rising cost of living and being without a running car, I’ve had to borrow or hire one just to get to shoots. On top of that, the ongoing stress of trying to keep everything afloat has taken a toll on my mental health.
So I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from HalterGeist Studio.
I’m proud of what I created and incredibly grateful to everyone who supported me, shared my work or trusted me to photograph something special to them. I’m also so thankful for the new friendships I’ve made through this journey and I truly hope those friendships continue long after HalterGeist Studio.
I really did give this my absolute best 🖤💚
