I don’t think anything prepares you for losing the dog that grew up with you.
Beemer, you were there through every version of me, from a little girl to becoming an adult halfway across the world. 17 years somehow still doesn’t feel long enough. You weren’t just a dog. You were my home. You were my comfort through every pain, sadness and stress in my life. You were a piece of my childhood that stayed constant while everything else changed.
Watching you get old has been one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever experienced. Your little paws that used to follow us everywhere became slower, eyes softer, your body more tired. And somehow I still wish for just one more cuddle, one more bark demanding for treats, one more time hearing your paws walk across the floor and your little bunny hops when you’d get the zoomies.
I hate that I can’t be there with you right now. I hate that goodbye has to happen through a phone screen instead of with my arms wrapped around you one last time. I would give anything to hear your paws walking around the house again, to hold your little face again, to tell you thank you properly for every single year you loved me so unconditionally.
I honestly think a part of the reason I never gave up on becoming a vet is because of you. Loving you taught me what it truly means to care for an animal beyond words. A part of this dream in my heart exists because of you.
Thank you for growing up with me, Bee.
Thank you for being my best friend through every chapter of my life.
I hope wherever you go next feels warm, safe and full of sunshine, mangos, endless treats and lots of birds to chase.
I love you so much my bee boy. Rest now peacefully over the rainbow bridge ❤️🌹🐾🪽🌈
