Before anyone walks through the door, this is what our mornings look like 🐱☀️💛

The lights go on, and the first job is always checking on whoever’s stayed with us overnight. Then setting up for any procedures and of course coffee, because let’s be honest, it helps.

It’s a quiet thirty minutes, but it sets the tone for everything after it 🙌

Meet Shantel, one of our nurses here at ARC! 🐾

Shantel’s spent over 10 years as a veterinary nurse, most of it working in internal medicine at a specialist hospital in Sydney, and she’s continued that path with us. She loves being part of the team helping run our CT scans, so pet owners get the clearest possible answers about their pet’s care.

At home she’s mum to Delilah, her Great Dane, and Draco, her cat. Outside the clinic you’ll find her scrapbooking, camping, or planning the next trip away.

Her favourite part of the job? The bond between people and their pets, and being trusted to care for someone’s fur baby.

We’re lucky to have her on the team 💙

Taking a heart rate is usually pretty routine. This one had other ideas 😺💛

She wasn’t interested in sitting still, mostly because she was far too busy demanding pats and headbutting the stethoscope.

Sue eventually won. Barely 😅

Turns out convincing a patient we love them too, while also needing thirty seconds of stillness, is harder than it sounds.

Anaesthesia sounds like the scary part. It’s actually one of the most closely watched. 👀

Behind every procedure at ARC, this machine is doing constant, quiet work: tracking heart rate, oxygen levels and breathing, and delivering anaesthetic dosed specifically for that patient, adjusted throughout.

It’s one of the reasons a “routine” scan or procedure still gets the same level of attention as a complex one. Nothing here is left to chance.

A cough brought Sav in. A CT scan told us why. 🐶

A pleural effusion was identified (fluid surrounding the lungs), which was aspirated via ultrasound. We are awaiting further results from the lab.

Referral to ARC is about so much more than simply booking a CT scan.

We can draw on ultrasound, image-guided sampling and other diagnostic techniques, alongside specialist interpretation, to investigate beyond the initial imaging findings and help provide answers for each patient.

Ruby was in for a CT met check this week, and we couldn’t be happier with her results. Scan was all clear, no evidence of liver mass recurrence. 👏

Such a relief for her family, and a great reminder of why keeping up with regular monitoring is so worth it.

Quality matters when you’re looking for answers.

This is a scan of a 6-month-old Golden Retriever who came in with persistent lameness. His CT scan revealed coronoid disease and an OCD lesion in his right elbow (plus very early changes on the left side too).

But here’s what we’re particularly proud of: The exceptional scan quality! Even the radiologist was impressed 😎

This level of detail allowed us to catch subtle changes early and start this puppy on the right treatment plan.
