Happy meowmies day to me šŸ˜… Dylan and I enjoyed a early morning adventure to .vetclinic as he has developed painful Cellulitis on his back right leg and we didn't want to delay getting him on antibiotics as quickly as possible.

$205 later and we are back home with antibiotics and pain relief on board while I try and find a sewing machine to borrow for a few days so that I can make some modified pants and slide bags to help protect Dylan's legs while he heals.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums out there… especially the ones whose love often goes unseen.

Sugar has been the most devoted and gentle mother to her four confident kittens. Every day we see signs that she is starting to feel safe. A softer look in her eyes and finally relaxing enough to rest while her babies play nearby. Trust does not come easily for cats like Sugar, especially when humans have only ever brought fear or uncertainty into their lives. Watching her slowly realise that she no longer has to fight to survive has been incredibly emotional and rewarding.

While her kittens bounce around with confidence and curiosity, Sugar still carries the weight of her past. But day by day she is learning that kindness exists. That gentle hands can bring comfort instead of danger. That she matters to us too.

Sugar’s story is why rescue matters. Because every mum deserves the chance to finally feel safe, loved, and cared for.

Happy Mother’s Day sweet Sugar. Your babies adore you… and we are starting to see that you are learning to trust that we do too 🄹

When Penny and Pebbles first arrived into care at just 10 weeks old, we truly believed they would only be with us for a short time. They were sweet, gentle, full of personality and so easy to love. We never imagined these beautiful girls would still be waiting more than three years later. Still hoping, still waiting and still getting overlooked week after week.

Three years of watching other animals come and go.
Three years of waiting for someone to look at them and say ā€œyou’re the ones.ā€

Cases like this remind us why we never give up on them. Seeing Penny and Pebbles so excited for affection, so happy just to spend time with us and so content together absolutely melts our hearts. They don’t ask for much, just love, safety and someone to finally choose them.

They have brought so much joy into our home over the years. They make us laugh, comfort us on hard days and greet us with so much happiness and trust. They are truly such a pleasure to share our lives with. Which is why it hurts knowing that somehow they continue to be passed by while they wait for a forever family of their own.

Long-term rescue animals are often the ones forgotten about. People see newer faces, younger animals, or assume that because they’ve been in care for so long, something must be wrong with them. But sometimes the reality is simply that they haven’t had someone willing to truly see them yet.

Penny and Pebbles deserve more than a temporary stop along the way. They deserve a couch to call their own, a family who adores them and a home where they never have to wonder if their turn will come.

We still believe their people are out there somewhere.

Dylan had another visit to yesterday for his follow-up after his PU surgery, and thankfully his specialist was very happy with how he is healing especially given Dylan is paralysed.

He also had bloods taken to check how his liver function is progressing and we were so relieved to hear it has continued to improve even after finishing his treatment.

The vet also collected a urine sample which unfortunately did come back positive for infection. It has now been sent away for a culture so we can make sure Dylan receives the most effective treatment possible.

The last 11 days have been incredibly up and down. One moment things seem stable, and the next we are dealing with new challenges. Dylan has been experiencing intermittent episodes where his bladder becomes firm and difficult to express, alongside ongoing tummy troubles that seem to fluctuate without any changes to his diet or medications.

Thankfully we have been able to manage these episodes at home so far with medications, massages, careful monitoring and lots of patience but it has definitely been emotionally exhausting carrying the constant worry of what these episodes could mean if they continue to progress.

Through it all though, Dylan continues to amaze us every single day. Despite everything his body has faced, he is still the same loving, affectionate boy who follows us everywhere just wanting to be included in every moment. Whether it’s cuddles in bed, couch snuggles, pats or massages, Dylan just wants to be close to the people he loves most.

We know there are still many unknowns ahead for him, but for now we are taking things one day at a time and celebrating every little win alongside him.

šŸ’”URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR SUNSHINEšŸ’”
Right now our beautiful 11 year old foster girl Sunshine is back at the vet and we desperately need your help to raise $2,000 for her urgent veterinary care.

Sunshine came into our care after being surrendered to the pound by the only family she had ever known. She arrived absolutely heartbroken. The stress and grief became so severe that she stopped eating for weeks and when she finally came to us, her tiny body was already slipping into liver failure.

We fought beside her to save her life and little by little Sunshine began to trust again. She started eating, asking for pats, curling up to us and showing us the loving girl she had always deserved to be. Just as we thought she was finally ready to start searching for the forever home we received another devastating blow… Sunshine was diagnosed with heart disease.

Since then we have done everything possible to keep her stable, comfortable and happy. At her recent specialist appointment her echo showed that her heart medication was helping and for the first time in a long time we allowed ourselves to feel hopeful.

But last week everything changed.
Sunshine suddenly began refusing food again. We tried everything we could think of to tempt her to eat and although she improved slightly for a few days, this morning she had to be admitted to the vet for urgent testing to find out what is going on as she hadn't eaten for 3 days.

Her emergency vet care is expected to exceed $2,000 and after months of ongoing specialist veterinary care we simply cannot do this without your help. Sunshine has already survived heartbreak, liver failure and heart disease. Please help us show her that she was never disposable. That her life matters. That senior animals are still worthy of love, care and a future.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Primrose has blossomed in foster care, leaving her tough past behind and fully embracing the cosy indoor life. You’ll often find her curled up in the softest bed she can find, soaking up the warmth and peace she’s long been missing. But don’t let her regal side fool you, she also has a playful streak and loves batting toys around, happily entertaining herself (and you!) with her extremely cute antics.

She’s currently living with other cats but Primrose could happily be your one and only, soaking up all the attention or she could live with another calm cat who understands that she is of course the queen of the household.

Primrose has given so much love to raising her kittens and now it’s her turn to receive it. If you’re looking for a beautiful soul to brighten your home and your heart, Primrose is waiting for you.

To apply for Primrose please complete our adoption application so that we can call you to discuss more about our adoption process.

As many of you know we sadly had to say goodbye to Rex's much loved brother Roger last month after a sudden battle with end stage kidney disease.

Rex and Roger had never known life apart. They were bonded not only by love, but by a shared diagnosis of congenital kidney disease that meant daily medication, ongoing care and a future that was never guaranteed.

When we lose animals like Roger, it leaves behind crippling heartbreak not just for us, but for the fur friends they leave behind too. Grief in animals is real. The empty spaces, the missing snuggles, the silence where there was once companionship. Rex has had to learn to navigate life without his brother but in his true resilient fashion, he continues to show us his strength and determination every day.

Today Rex visited the vet as he needed more Benazepril, a medication that isn’t optional for him but essential. It helps support his kidney function and gives him the chance to live comfortably with dignity and quality of life. Without it his condition would rapidly decline and he would become critically unwell.

His short visit today came to $301.
Moments like this are a reminder of that rescue doesn’t end when an animal is safe in our care. For animals like Rex, it’s a lifelong commitment of ongoing medications, regular vet visits and they all add up so quickly.

While we know these animals are not be the easiest to rehome, they are just as deserving of our specialised care and love. Beary Fuzzy Forever Rescue exists for animals like Rex! The ones who need that extra TLC and depend on consistent, compassionate care.

As a small rescue the financial strain can be overwhelming so if you’re in a position to help us with a donation today, every dollar towards Rex’s vet visit helps us continue saying ā€œyesā€ to animals who normally have nowhere else to go.

Thank you for being a part of Rex and Roger's journey with us šŸ’œ

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
