WHAT A TEAM!!!!

Baby George had his very first outing in the world last week...it was very overwhelming with lots of new sights, sounds and scents.

He was easily distracted, got very excited to see new people and other dogs....all very expected behaviours for a pup with no experience.

1 WEEK......OMG!!!!

This kid was walking like a dream with his mum today, following direction, and strutting his stuff like an absolute pro!!!

Today he had lots of very high level distraction, new people, high energy off leash dogs running about and barking, off leash dogs approaching...all the things a puppy with very little experience should be reacting to.

George, saw the people and the dogs...trotted in front of mum, faced her and sat, eyes locked on mum, bulletproof focus and completely ignoring any and all distractions!!!

We got to practise our walking styles and the other dogs provided us the perfect opportunity to put it all into action.

Absolutely nailed it 🎓🐶🎓

I could not be prouder of the huge amount of progress george and his mum have made, outstanding work, just brilliant 👏👏👏

You guys blew me away today....keep up the good work 😘😘

🩵ARKY🩵

I spent some time getting to know these beautiful boys yesterday 😍🐶🐶😍

I am an absolute sucker for the older dogs...they've earnt their stripes!!
Baine is simply gorgeous, very well behaved, sweet and a very much loved and well looked after member of his family 💙

Baine is doing just fine, very well trained, knows the rules, he had a great time getting involved and showing me how clever he is and he was a great helper teaching his little brother a few new tricks!

Arky was the focus of our session, mainly we worked on setting boundaries, recognising the various postures and body language Arky was using in order to pull rank and have things how he would like them to be, rather than having a nice balance between the two dogs.

Arky is in his forever home but his start to life, before meeting his family wasn't ideal.
The result of those experiences has left it's mark, mainly with his social skills and he can be quite reactive towards unknown dogs at times.

After we had worked on his boundaries and behaviours at home we took him out for a little stroll, we practised a couple of different walking styles, how to move, when to shift gears and observing the changes in Arky when we helped him to feel a little more relaxed out in the world.

Both these dogs did brilliantly during their session yesterday and have some new skills to practise that are going to bring a much more balanced dynamic to the household.
Arky walked beautifully for us and with a little more experience those reactive behaviours will be much less of an issue for him.

It was a pleasure meeting you boys and your family, everyone did a great job...keep up the good work 😘😘

💙GEORGE💙

Little Georgie boy has been busy doing his homework and we've been working hard over the last few weeks 🎓🐶🎓

He wasn't a fan when we introduced his harness and collar, very happy to say he's now very happy to wear them without any problems at all!!

Once we had him wearing those without issue, we introduced the lead.
George, like most pups needed to learn the lead belongs to mum, not him and it's not a toy!!
Initially he was all for playing with it, chewing on it and thinking it was a great game.
We practised a few exercises and some distracting games, introduced him to the basics of heel and walking on a loose leash....he's picked it all up in no time at all 👏👏👏

This week, time to take George and all his new skills out into the real world!

Lots of new sights, sounds and scents for him venturing out for the first time.
Initially it was all a little overwhelming for him, as we expected.
We made sure to help George feel safe and secure while he observed all the new things around him, gave him the time and space to find his feet and he did brilliantly!!

Once George was feeling confident, he got to do a little exploring as we carefully exposed him to all the things he will be experiencing on his adventures.
Then we began the practical application of all the skills we've been teaching him...checking in with us, remaining calm when new people, dogs, cars, birds are nearby, and walking with us on a loose leash.

Big thank you to all the people that recognised we were training and resisted that urge to come and pat cute little georgie and get him all excited when he was learning about being calm and focused on his mum, much appreciated 🙏🙏

You and your mum are doing brilliantly George, I'll see you very soon for our next adventure kiddo😘

Research shows that feeding dogs🐶 blueberries🫐 as treats can support healthier aging by helping reduce oxidative stress, a key driver of cellular damage over time. Blueberries are rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols, compounds linked to improved antioxidant status, brain health, and reduced inflammation in both animal and canine studies. In sled dog and feeding trials, blueberry supplementation🫐 has been shown to increase antioxidant capacity, helping protect cells from damage associated with exercise and aging. Emerging research also suggests these compounds may help defend DNA🧬 from oxidative stress, supporting overall cellular resilience. Interestingly, studies comparing fresh and frozen❄️ blueberries have found that freezing preserves these antioxidants and may even increase their measured availability. This happens because ice crystal formation breaks down cell walls, making anthocyanins easier to release when consumed. Combined with the fact that frozen berries are typically harvested at peak ripeness, they can deliver antioxidant levels equal to or even higher than fresh store-bought berries. Together, the evidence suggests blueberries, especially when fed regularly, are a simple, functional addition that may help support your dog’s long-term health and aging process.

Start with ¼ to ½ tsp per 10lbs of body weight a day.

It’s panic. They’re running away.

You were out and about. The leash was taken off and for a few seconds it feels perfect.
Freedom.
Running.
Joy and some super fast circle zoomies

Then suddenly your dog is “gone”. Not physically.
Yet.
But it’s about to happen and your stomach down by your boots knows it.

Their ears stopped hearing you.
Their body changes.
Those eyes lock onto everything else.
You call once. Twice. Ten times.
And that awful feeling starts rising from your ankles to your chest.

You panic.
You’re now kicking yourself for letting them off that lead.
You’re frustrated, angry at yourself for that tiny decision you made.

People blame THAT moment.

But most off lead problems started way before the dog actually ran off.
They started in the much smaller moments, even on that lead.

A dog who rarely checked in.
Maybe recall only worked when nothing interesting was happening.
Or they were already prepared for the “recall game” in your backyard again.

More off lead freedom can feel like the answer.
But it’s not.
Yet.

Because sometimes, every "uncontrolled" off lead session is simply rehearsing disconnection from you.

That is why this can feel so upsetting for people.
Because they want to feel connected to their dog again.
And in that very moment, when they’re high tailing it out of there?
There's none.

But the good news is, connection can absolutely be built. Even out there in the real world.

Quiet check ins.
Tiny successes.
Long lines.
Rewarding engagement before things fall apart.
Building distraction levels slowly instead of hoping for the best.

Because truly reliable off lead freedom is not built on hope.
It is well and truly built on connection.
