We don’t post about our dogs wins that often as we love celebrating our students instead!

But today Modi and I did 4 excellent searches at my clubs trial and he successfully passed all 4 searches!

So happy with the little man! This means he is now in masters for 2 elements!

MORE THAN JUST RIBBONS, PASSES & TITLES

Yesterday, my Sniff & Learn crew absolutely smashed it at their trial, walking away with passes, places and titles, and I couldn’t be prouder!

But you know what makes me even happier? The community we’re building along the way.

I LOVE seeing people and their dogs come together through scent work and watching those friendships grow beyond our weekly classes.

From being strangers in a class to spending weekends together at trials, cheering each other on, celebrating wins, laughing about the near misses and planning the next dog sport adventure together.

Because let’s be honest… not everyone understands the appeal of spending an entire weekend in car parks to search for odour for 3-5 seconds . But these people GET IT!

They understand the excitement of a pass, the heartbreak of a near miss, the joy of watching your dog figure something out and why we will happily drive hours, get up ridiculously early and spend our weekends doing it all over again.

And I LOVE that Sniff & Learn is bringing people together to do exactly that.

Of course, I want my students to succeed. I want you to build confident dogs, develop your skills and achieve those goals you’ve been working towards. I will ALWAYS celebrate those achievements with you!

But I also want you to find your people. To make friends, have fun, support each other and create memories with your dogs that go far beyond what happens in the ring.

Because the titles are amazing, the ribbons are lovely, and the podium photos are pretty great… but the friendships and experiences we build along the way are something really special.

To my Sniff & Learn crew, I am SO proud of you and your dogs. Thank you for being part of this community and for making it what it is.

Here’s to more trials, more road trips, more ribbons, more sniffy adventures and many more weekends spent with our favourite kind of crazy people!

SO PROUD OF MY SNIFF & LEARN TEAMS!

One of my absolute favourite things is seeing Sniff & Learn students standing on podiums at trials — and yesterday made my heart SO happy!

At yesterday’s Fast Paws Scent Work Trial,
over 50% of the Novice place-getters were Sniff & Learn teams and sniff and learn students got places in every single search offered on the day!

ALL THREE of our Novice place-getters were competing at their FIRST EVER scent trial — and ALL THREE walked away with a place!

How cool is that?!

I will never believe in rushing dogs through their foundations just to get them into a trial. I want dogs to understand the game, love searching, build independence and confidence, and have the skills they need to be successful when they step into that search area.

That’s exactly why our 6-week courses are structured the way they are. We take the time to build the foundations properly, while giving both you AND your dog the tools you need to become a confident, successful Novice team.

Seeing these teams take what they’ve learnt in class and put it together in their very first trial is honestly the BEST feeling.

I couldn’t be prouder of you all!

And of course, a HUGE congratulations to all of yesterday’s place-getters across Novice, Advanced and Masters!

Watching our Sniff & Learn teams continue to grow, learn and achieve is one of the biggest reasons I love what I do.

Yesterday I had the absolute privilege of judging at the very first Fast Paws Scent Work trial at a very cool new location!

The trial offered Novice, Advanced and Masters searches, and one of my favourite things about judging is when clubs choose to give judges the opportunity to present a Judge’s Choice Award.

As a competitor myself, these awards are some of my favourites because they aren’t necessarily about who passed or who found every hide. They’re about recognising something special. commitment, dedication, incredible teamwork, a dog’s joy in doing the sport, or simply something that made you smile.

Today there were three Judges’ Choice Awards on offer — one for each level.

For my Masters Judge’s Choice I actually didn’t choose the winner at all! I handed the decision completely over to my stewards and volunteers. I love sharing this choice with the people helping me watch all the teams throughout the day, because they get to see so many of the little moments too.

I simply asked them to pick their favourite dog of the day— and the choice was entirely theirs.

The Advanced judge chose her own dog, and my trainee judge Monika selected the Novice award winner.

And here’s the part that absolutely warms my heart…

All three Judges’ Choice Awards went to Sniff & Learn students. 🥹

It makes me incredibly proud to see the teams we coach every week out there presenting with happy, joyful dogs and incredible teamwork — so much so that other judges, stewards and volunteers notice it too.

For me, THAT is what Scent Work is all about.

It’s not just about titles, places or ribbons. It’s about building a partnership with your dog, watching them light up when they get to search, and creating a team that genuinely loves doing this together.

Congratulations Nikki, Jacquie and Mary

I couldn’t be prouder of you and your sniffy teams.

🏆 SCENT WORK CHAMPIONS! 🏆

I’m so incredibly proud to be sharing this photo of one of our very own Sniff & Learn teams, Kerry & Kira, who earned their Scent Work Championship last night!

Kerry & Kira have been coming to us right from their very first Scent Work Foundations class, and I’m pretty sure they have done a term at pretty much every single location we have, plus plenty of extras along the way!

Earning a Scent Work Championship is no small feat, and Kerry & Kira have put in an incredible amount of hard work to get here. This win is so incredibly well deserved!

One of my favourite things has been watching all of the adventures these two have gotten up to throughout their Scent Work journey. The amazing places they’ve travelled, the incredible searches Kerry has set up for Kira in their fancy Airbnbs 😂, and just seeing the absolute joy that Scent Work brings them as a team.

Because at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about

We’ve had a few Sniff & Learn Champions now, and I honestly couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them. Getting to watch our teams grow, learn, overcome challenges, celebrate their wins and achieve things they’ve worked so hard for is one of the absolute best parts of what I do.

Kerry & Kira, you have been Champions in my eyes for a very long time, and seeing you officially earn that Championship last night was just so special.

Well done, Team!

I can’t wait to keep training with you and watching all of the adventures that come next. You two continue to inspire me and so many others, and I’m so lucky to have been a little part of your journey from the very beginning.

Congratulations Kerry & Kira!
