Sometimes the rescue world can feel a little overwhelming… full of sad stories, big emotions, and never-ending requests for help. 😞

But then a bright little ray of happiness shines through and reminds us exactly why we do what we do. ☀️🐾
That sunshine today came in the form of Taylor and her sweet daughter little Miss Ayla, who chose to spend her birthday visiting the refuge and sharing cuddles with our rescue pets! 🎉💛

And the most heartwarming part?
Instead of birthday presents, Ayla asked her family and friends to donate to our rescue animals… and an incredible $230 was raised to help our rescue family today. 🥹✨

Moments like this fill our hearts right up.
Thank you Taylor and Ayla for your kindness, compassion, and big beautiful hearts — you’ve made such a difference for the animals in our care. 🐶🐱💕

🐾🎥 MEET A FEW OF OUR GORGEOUS DOGS IN CARE! 🎥🐾
This little video shows just a handful of the beautiful faces currently waiting at Mareeba Animal Refuge; active, playful, affectionate dogs who are ready to become someone’s best mate. 💛

But we need to be honest… we desperately need adoptions.
Rescues everywhere are full, and the requests for help don’t stop coming.
Right now we have:
🐾 Several adult dogs on our surrender waitlist who have done nothing wrong but are needing safety
🐶 Two litters of puppies waiting for space
🚨 Two young dogs in the local pound who will need rescue if their owners don’t come forward
🤝 Other rescues reaching out to us for help

Before we can commit ourselves to taking in any more… we must find homes for the gorgeous dogs and puppies already in our care and free up space in the kennels.

Tomorrow (23rd Jan), Kohl’s sister Kala will be heading off to her forever home with another kitty friend… and while we are SO happy for her, it also means something really sad:

This sweet boy has never known life without a sibling by his side. We would love nothing more than for Kohl to be adopted too so his first night without his sister isn’t spent alone in the shelter but instead with his forever family. 🥰

Meet Loa, our beautiful $100 special girl who is quietly waiting for someone to give her a chance. 🐾

Loa arrived in care very scared, but she’s been settling in more each day and her confidence is growing. She enjoys gentle pats and will happily hang out nearby, but she’s not a fan of being picked up — she prefers affection on her own terms.

Loa has a calm, independent nature and would suit a home that appreciates a quieter companion. She’s also an expert huntress and would be fantastic for someone needing a shed or shop kitty for those pesky rats! Otherwise she will need to be an indoor cat who won’t impact wildlife.

Loa would prefer a home without other cats or dogs, where she can feel safe, relaxed, and truly at peace.

We’re looking at growing our Tablelands training schedule! 🗓️🐕

​We know that life gets busy, and sometimes our 5:30pm classes just don't fit into the "old schedule" between work, school, and dinner. We want to make training as accessible as possible, so we need your help!

​If we added new sessions, which would you be most likely to join?
​1️⃣ The Early Bird Special: Weekday mornings (before work/school).
2️⃣ The Saturday Start: Early Saturday morning courses to kick off the weekend.
3️⃣ The "Subject-Based" Style: "Pay as you go" classes for specific subjects (e.g., Loose Lead Walking, Settle, or Focus) where you just come for the topics you need!
