International Dog Day joyfully honours dogs of every breed and background, passionately advocates for dog adoption, and compassionately raises awareness about the welfare of our canine companions globally, spreading love and kindness.

Canine cavaletti was introduced to the silver class this week. With a few repetitions, each dog developed rear-end awareness and skillfully lifted each leg to navigate the poles. 🐾💪🎉

DOG BITE PREVENTION
I’m very grateful to the Mannum Mag for supporting this initiative and for publishing these submissions. This infographic appeared on page 8 of the August edition.

I hope these publications are helping readers and our wider community gain some much-needed knowledge about how to interact safely around dogs. By understanding dog behaviour and recognising warning signs, we can all play a part in preventing dog bites and creating safer interactions between people and dogs.

Our hens are now producing eggs, resulting in an egg surplus. Uncracked eggs still in shell - Dewi and Nano's favourite treat. 🐓🥚🌼🎉👍

Week 9, the grand finale week of the term, is the fur-bulous time to throw a bash for all the tail-wagging hard work. A trick doesn't have to be a real pain, sometimes it's just about mastering something that's a total doggy dilemma for Fido 🐾.

Being a dog parent is a real job, requiring lots of snacks, belly rubs, and p**p scoops, plus your furry friend needs a comfy place to crash and regular exercise to stay happy and healthy. At Canine Mates Club, we're all about building trust between you and your fur baby, setting you up for some seriously successful training sessions. Huge congrats to our Term 2 grads - you made it! 🐾💕🎉👏😊

Good reminders here for reading a dog's body language when patting.

I can. But I’m not going to.

I don’t want your dog to shrink away while I insist on ruffling their hair up.
They don’t need me to touch them to prove “I’m safe”.

What they actually need is for me to keep my hands in my pocket and wait for some signals of consent.

We have a tactile “obsession” when it comes to dogs.

Maybe it starts when they’re puppies and their squidginess draws our hands in.
100% their fur and wee fat rolls combined are irresistible.
From there though, it can become a habit.

We see a person up the street we haven’t seen for a while, stop for a chat and our hand goes down to pat while we say “Aww whose this wee girl”.
That’s how easy these habits grow.

They’re ingrained.

How about we start to normalise not touching?
And start normalising watching for consent.
