3 Tips to help your walk 🤗 🐕

- 🥇 Set the tone at the START. Wait for calm before leaving the house, putting the lead on and getting out the car.
- 🥈 Frequency. Most dogs want to get out and exercise EVERYDAY. If they only get walked 2-3 times per week they may be overwhelmed as it’s not a regular activity.
- 🥉 Walk with purpose. Walk with intention and briskly, it’s telling the dog we are moving and with direction. They are much more likely to follow as you’re showing leadership by leading them on an outing.

Where should your dog be when taking them for a walk??? 🐕

I’m glad you asked 😂

For many reasons including safety, showing leadership and for our own sanity. Dogs should always walk in a follower position on a walk. The walk should be a calm and meditative experience for all involved. No one likes a dog pulling them down the path and them pulling so much they seem to be choking on their collar….

Therefore, it’s is best to have them walking next to you or behind you. When a dog is in these positions they are in a follower state of mind, this can curb reactivity with other dogs, as they feel safer because you’re in the lead… and it also drains more energy as the walk has structure “rules” so they have to concentrate more at keeping in like and in pace with us 😃

Morning everyone!

Zac here from Zac’s Pack Dog Walking.
Just finished a lovely morning walk with Mr Franklin 🐶 and the Captain - Huxley (my boy).

Little summary on why the morning walk is so great 🥇
- mimic’s natural behaviour of the dog (they would migrate in the mornings in the wild)
- structured walks drain 2x the energy of crazy walks… 🤪
- reduces frustrated behaviours like digging, barking, chewing and whining as the dogs energy has been drained for the day.
- you won’t feel guilty if you’ve left them home for the day and can relax when you get home with your dog 🥰
