I had 10 group members turn up to dog school today. The weather turned a bit drizzly, but then the sun came out again.

We started off with some station work. This involves asking our dogs to sit on a mat or in a hoop. I then asked the class to send their dogs to that station.
Then we did some engagement work, some activities while walking in a circle with people inside and chicken in a box.

I had a ball during this lesson! Everyone was happy and plenty of smiles and waggy tails.

For the next lesson, we will be meeting at the Heritage Park carpark and then going for a walk through town. It will give us the opportunity to use all those skills we learnt during our lessons. See you then!

Patterns are important for all dogs, but especially our nervous guys. An example of a pattern is feeding your dog at the same time in the same place. Your dog then knows that the outcome is - I am going to get fed.

What I am doing here is creating a 'safe place' on a travel mat. I encourage people to use these as in a chaotic world, when the mat goes on the ground, your dog will know what to do and what the mat represents. The outcome is that no one will interact with me when I am on this mat and it is safe.

My in house session today was with Ziggy who I have worked with previously. Well, this lovely lady is doing really well. Today we did some work on recall and jumping up. She is a rescue girl and is enjoying her new life and home which is fantastic.

During in house sessions, you let me know what training you would like me to do.

I look forward to seeing her again in the near future.

I had two private lessons today. The first one was with Bec and Sheeba - Sheeba is a 16 month old mixed breed who gets a bit over stimulated near people and other dogs.

Mark helped out with the lesson and we practiced walking past him. In the past, Sheeba has been lunging at different triggers but today, she did not do that at all.

My second lesson was with Danni and Pumpkin. Pumpkin is a one year old Border Collie who also has a few issues with over stimulation around people and other dogs.

They both went so well and even though they get a bit stimulated every now and then, they are able to settle themselves down. Fantastic!!!
