Gorgeous Maple has just become our first ever clinic blood donor!
When Maple came in today, Dr Nicci ran full comprehensive blood tests to ensure no underlying health issues exist, and placed a catheter. Maple was given some sedation to make her more comfortable during the procedure, then we clipped the hair and sterilely prepped the area. The blood transfusion was performed, and once complete we let Maple recover from her sedation. Afterwards she was spoilt with lots of food, treats and got her bravery award 🥹🥰
Donating blood can save a critical patients life. Without donations, we cannot provide this service to our patients that need it.
If your pet:
- Is in good health
- Is happy and relaxed at the vet
- Weighs 25kg or more
- Is between 1 year old and 8 years old
- Is up to date with all vaccinations and worming
- Has no history of receiving previous blood transfusions
Than they are the perfect candidate for donating blood!
