🌈 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day — August 28 🌈

Today we remember the pets who have left paw prints on our hearts and changed our lives forever.

For many of us, our pets aren’t simply animals — they are family. They are there through the ordinary moments, the difficult days, the celebrations and the quiet times when we simply need their company.

When they leave us, the house can feel different. Their favourite spot is empty. We still expect to hear their footsteps, see them waiting at the door, or feel them beside us.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is a beautiful opportunity to pause and remember them. To look at the photographs, tell their stories, remember the funny things they did, and be grateful for the years, memories and unconditional love they gave us.

And although saying goodbye is one of the hardest things we will ever do for our pets, choosing a peaceful goodbye at home can be a final act of love — allowing them to pass surrounded by the people, familiar smells and comforts they know best.

Today, we remember every beloved pet who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Never forgotten. 🐾🌈

If you have lost a beloved companion, take a moment today to say their name. Their life mattered, and the love you shared will always be part of you.

COPING WITH ISOLATION DUE TO PET LOSS

The "Right Time"?

One of the hardest things about loving a senior pet is that there’s usually not one clear “right time.” People wait for a moment where it just feels obvious. A sign. A turning point. A day where they just know. But that’s not usually how chronic disease works. It’s slow changes. Good days mixed with hard days. Eating one day, not the next. Wanting a walk but struggling to get up. Still wagging their tail but hurting in ways we can’t always see. And families end up living in that in-between space for a while, wondering if it’s too soon or too late. Unfortunately, Choosing euthanasia is rarely about a perfect moment. It’s about looking at their comfort, their dignity, their quality of life, and deciding you don’t want suffering to be part of their story.

And I know- setting a date is also weird. And seems not okay. But we are giving the a last gift of dignity and peace. We are exchanging their pain for ours. If you’re in this place right now, feeling unsure or second guessing everything… that’s normal. And you are doing the best you can with the information you have in each moment.

There may not be one “right” time.

Some Dogs Never Leave 🐾❤️
