Hi everyone,

We have some exciting news!β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ The K9 team will be back in action this Monday...

To ensure everything runs smoothly, we appreciate if you could follow these procedures.

- All dogs must be on a collar and lead when entering the front reception.
- Only one customer is permitted in the front reception area at a time.
- Graham will be on light duties and supervising, with other team members/volunteers assisting. We appreciate your patience during this transition.

Please note that daycare will initially be open on Mondays and Thursdays only. We are keeping our numbers at a manageable level to ensure we provide the best care for your dogs. If you are unsure if your dog is suitable for these daycare groups, please send us a message😊

We look forward to seeing you and your furry friends back soon!😊

Thanks,Jenn and Graham

It has been exactly one week since my total hip replacement, and I am happy to share that the surgery was a success. While I still have a lot of stretching and physiotherapy ahead of me, I am feeling so much better.

Today was a small success as I was finally able to get outside with Roo. It was an amazing day filled with sunshine, fresh air and out in the great outdoors. Although Roo was a little unsure about me sitting so still, she was excited as soon as I mentioned "going for a walk."β˜€οΈπŸŒΌπŸŒ»

I am not quite ready to return to work yet, but I am grateful for the progress so far.

Have a great Mother's Day

Posting for the benefit of dog owners and people in general...

🐾How to greet unfamiliar dogs...Do not stretch your hand out towards a new dog, as this can be perceived as threatening or invasive and risks a bite. Instead, ask the owner for permission, stand sideways, and let the dog come to you to sniff if they choose. Keeping your hands relaxed at your sides is safest.

🐾Why you should not put your hand out...It's threatening, as stretching your hand out often causes you to lean over the dog, which feels intimidating. Dogs have an incredible sense of smell and can smell you perfectly fine without you thrusting your hand in their face. The hand/wrist is the most common place for a person to be bitten, offering it puts it directly in harm's way. It invades space, forcing interaction before the dog is ready, taking away their options.

🐾How to properly greet a dog...Ask permission, always ask the owner if the dog is friendly first. Stand sideways, facing slightly away from the dog to appear less confrontational. Let them approach, wait for the dog to come to you to sniff. If the dog stays next to you or leans into you, this is a good indication to proceed further, allowing the dog to take the lead. Pat safely,if they are friendly, pat their chest, side, or neck, not the top of their head as this can perceived as threatening.

Keeping it safe for everyone 😊
