FOODS YOUR PET CANNOT HAVE THIS CHRISTMAS 🎄🥑🍫🍇🍗
• Alcohol: be mindful this christmas that alcohol can be in lots of festive foods, and this can potentially cause your pet to become sick if consumed.
• Avocado: although the fruit of the avocado is not toxic to dogs, the seed could potentially cause an obstruction if ingested.
• Chocolate: chocolate contains theobromine which, if consumed, can lead to seizures, coma and heart failure.
• Macadamia nuts: these contain a toxin that can affect muscles and cause lethargy in dogs, along with some other nuts.
• Grapes: grapes can cause acute liver and kidney disease so be careful of these on those christmas day platters.
• Nutmeg: high levels of nutmeg can lead to hallucinations, elevated heart rates and skin flushing.
• Artificial sweetener: xylitol is an artificial sweetener that can be found in candy canes, sweets, baked goods and chewing gum. Be careful as even the smallest amount can be poisonous to your dog.
• Chicken/Turkey SKIN: skin and fat trimmings may contribute to your pet having an upset tummy and pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
• COOKED bones: cooked bones can splinter and potentially harm your pet by becoming obstructed in the gastrointestinal tract or even stuck in their throat.
• Onion: onion and garlic are two ingredients present in stuffing, and many other christmas dishes, if consumed these will be poisonous.
• Gravy: while gravy is tasty, it is unfortunately too salty and fatty for your pet.
Keep the food to yourself, and your pet safe this Christmas 🫶🏽✨🎁
