Is Oakwood conditioner the single most versatile leather conditioner on the market? Discuss.

(That is a pair of shoes. Not one from two diff pairs).

Henry’s gone from Work Horse to Show Horse and he’s ready for a day out. He’ll be parked with his inferior yellow 1971 Ford cousin.

It’s the Re-Opening of the Maffra Car Museum Shed tomorrow. Looks like it’ll be a good day out!

*disclaimer. ‘’Inferior’’ means smaller, louder & faster in this context 😏🤣

Oh yeh! Bulk Nikwax. This stuff is so good. It’s designed for using in a washing machine with synthetic turnouts.
One important aspect of washing synthetic turnout rugs is - they shouldn’t go in a machine with the centre agitator.
Then you just get the rugs really, really clean (in cold water) with nikwax rug wash if you wanted, and then give them a whirl in nikwax rug proof. It won’t perform miracles but if anything is going to work, nikwax will.

I use this before I put the rugs away at the end of the season. Then they’re ready to go for next year. OR if I had to wash rugs mid season (perhaps bc someone had let their brother shirt front them and it needed to come in for repairing…) I would use it then too.

If you’ve been here for a minute, you’d be familiar with the idea that my greatest nemesis in this world is my 80yo (approx) k6 sewing machine. (Or the wiring on Henry, depending on the day).
Well, I out-stubborned the k6 tonight and sorted out both tensioner assemblies and now it sounds more like a machine gun than ever before.
It did of course take the p**s for a minute there by working perfectly fine on a test piece and then being a disaster on an actual rug (…three times) but it’s under control now. A significantly smoother operation than most things involving the k6!
I put a new tensioner assembly on the bottom and then realised the top one was cooked too so used parts from the old bottom one to fix the top one 🤷🏼‍♀️ because YOLO and also ‘Wing it Wednesday’ is a philosophy not a schedule 😏

Micklem Bit clips for sale:
Does anyone happen to need a whole bunch of Micklem bit clips by any chance??? (10 of).
$15 incl post.

Perhaps you have 5 micklem bridles that all need new bit clips simultaneously.

Or perhaps you have one, and would like to have spares for the spares for the spares for the spares.

Or perhaps you can use them for something other than bit clips. Throwing them at people who approach you too early on a Monday morning without first offering coffee, perhaps. (Maybe it’s best I do keep them 😏).

Edit - Or perhaps for if an adult says brang, arks, yoose, I seen… or uses the word literally literally at any time,

I’m joking…. I would never.

They’re way too light.

Nosebands and reins… I remember once upon a time I used to repair things other than nosebands and reins… But lately I swear it’s all nosebands and reins 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lots of converting nosebands to have a buckle on each side of the face for modern padded head pieces. Making chin buckles sit more ergonomically (in a variety of different ways on a range of noseband types). I love that people are seeing the benefits of these little changes that are for the horses’ comfort. And not just using it how it comes off the shelf.

Sewing black leather with black thread is the bane of my existence though, so some brown/brown was a nice change.

Great day to set up outside and clean things!
If you get the dirt and sweat off leather and it’ll last much longer.
Bonus points if you check for damaged stitching and wear and then get it fixed before it breaks…
