As most of you know, I had a pretty bad fall off my gelding about 4 weeks ago now. It really rocked me physically. I was in bed for a week straight and couldn’t walk. It has been a disgustingly painful recovery trying to get my back and legs to function again as they should but I am on the mend and back working my own horses.

I didn’t think I’d have to explain myself to people who have seen my posts riding my own horses the last 3 days but not willing to work client problem horses at this current time. Thanks to those who understand

Just a friendly but important reminder to all clients regarding my booking and cancellation policy.

Please take the time to read and familiarise yourself with it when booking appointments. Unfortunately, I’ve had an increasing number of last-minute cancellations and no-shows, and it has a significant impact on my small business.

When an appointment is cancelled in the middle of the day or at the last minute, it leaves a gap that is almost impossible to fill. This not only disrupts my entire schedule, but it also means I’m losing income during time that could have been offered to other clients who are currently waiting for appointments.

Because of this ongoing issue, I will soon be introducing signed booking agreements to ensure that my policies are clearly understood and respected moving forward.

I value and appreciate every single client who respects my time and runs on schedule — it truly helps keep the business running smoothly. Thank you to those who already do the right thing.

Please be mindful when booking and cancelling appointments so I can continue providing the best service possible to everyone. 🤍

🚨 URGENT – STOLEN HORSE – PENRITH AREA 🚨

Our friend’s black pony gelding has been STOLEN from a property near Penrith, NSW and we are desperately trying to locate him. This horse has been taken without permission, which constitutes theft under NSW law, and the matter will be reported to police.

Anyone who has taken, transported, hidden, purchased, or is currently in possession of this horse may be in possession of stolen property, which is a serious criminal offence. Authorities will be notified and any information received will be passed directly to police.

This horse is very loved and deeply missed, and we are pleading with the community to help us bring him home safely. Horses cannot simply disappear — someone has seen something.

Please keep an eye out for:
• Black pony gelding
• Recently moved, transported, or appearing somewhere new around Penrith and surrounding areas

We ask everyone to please:
🔹 Check paddocks, sale pages, horse groups, and agistment properties
🔹 Share this post widely across horse and local community groups
🔹 Report any sightings or information immediately

If you have ANY information, please message us urgently or contact police.

To the person responsible — do the right thing and return him safely. The priority right now is getting him home where he belongs.

🙏 Please share. Let’s bring this boy home.

When I was 16 years old, I was gifted a horse called Harley by a very good friend of mine.

That gift changed the entire direction of my life.

Harley wasn’t the easy, been-there-done-that schoolmaster type. He wasn’t the horse that packed you around and filled you with instant confidence. He was sensitive, reactive, unsure of the world, and very honest about it. If something didn’t feel right to him, he told you. Loudly sometimes. Quietly other times. But he always told you.

At 16, I thought I had a fair idea of what I was doing.

Harley quickly humbled me.

He was what many would label a “problem horse.” He could be tense, overwhelmed, sticky to move forward, and at times completely unsure of what was being asked of him. But looking back now, he wasn’t a problem — he was confused. And he was waiting for someone to slow down enough to understand him.

There were days I cried. Days I felt embarrassed. Days I questioned whether I was capable enough for him. But there were also breakthroughs — small, quiet ones that meant everything. The first time he softened instead of braced. The first time he chose to step forward freely instead of planting his feet or rearing. The first deep exhale when he realised he was understood.

Harley taught me timing.
He taught me feel.
He taught me patience.
He taught me that pressure without clarity creates anxiety.
He taught me that behaviour is communication, not disobedience.

Most importantly, he taught me to look inward before pointing outward.

If he was reactive, I had to ask why.
If he was shutting down, I had to ask what I was missing.
If he wasn’t confident, I had to become clearer and fairer.

He made me obsessed with understanding the “why” behind every reaction. Why is this horse overwhelmed? Why are they bracing? Why are they avoiding forward movement? Why are they labelled difficult?

Because more often than not, they aren’t difficult — they’re misunderstood.

Harley built the foundation of everything I know today. Every horse I work with, every owner I help, every training approach I use is influenced by the lessons he taught me as a teenager trying to figure it out.

He’s the reason I am so passionate about helping owners who feel stuck with a “problem horse.” I know what it feels like to love a horse deeply but not quite know how to help them. I know the frustration, the self-doubt, the outside opinions. And I also know the transformation that happens when you shift from control to communication.

What started as a generous gift from a friend became the greatest education I could have asked for.

Harley didn’t just teach me how to train horses.

He taught me how to understand them.

And that’s exactly why I do what I do today.
