🐾 TOWEL DONATIONS NEEDED! 🐾

We’re running very low on bath towels at the clinic and would be incredibly grateful for any donations! 🛁🐶🐱

If you have any bath-sized towels at home that you no longer need, we would love to give them a second life caring for our patients. 💕

At this stage, we are only needing bath towels please — no hand towels, blankets, sheets or doonas.

Donations can be dropped into the clinic during our opening hours, 8:30am until 5pm.

🐷💗 Meet little George!

This adorable little guy came in to see us last week after developing a sore leg. George was such a sweet little patient and certainly had everyone stopping by for a cuddle! 🥹

It’s not every day we get a tiny piglet through the clinic doors, and we absolutely loved having him visit. 🐷💕

‼️🦷 August is Dental Awareness Month 🦷‼️

Myth: “My pet is still eating, so their teeth must be fine!”

One of the biggest misconceptions about dental disease in pets is that if they’re still eating, their mouth must be healthy.

The truth is, pets can have significant dental disease and still continue to eat. They may simply adapt to the discomfort chewing differently, eating more slowly, dropping food, preferring softer foods, or swallowing food without chewing.

And dental disease doesn’t always show up as an obvious “tooth problem”. You may also notice:

🐾 Bad breath
🐾 Drooling
🐾 Red, swollen or bleeding gums
🐾 Pawing at the mouth or rubbing their face

Annual dental checks help us spot problems early.

🚨 When should you call the vet during calving season?

Every calving is different, but knowing when to ask for help can save both the cow and the calf.

A few good rules of thumb:
🐮 Strong straining with no progress for 30 minutes
🐮 Water bag has been visible for more than 2 hours without a calf
🐮 Only one leg, the head only, tail first, or anything that doesn’t look like two front feet and a nose
🐮 The calf appears too large to fit through the pelvis
🐮 The cow becomes exhausted or stops straining
🐮 You suspect twins or an abnormal presentation
🐮 You’ve attempted to assist but aren’t making steady progress

One of the biggest mistakes is waiting too long. A live calf can quickly become a dead calf, and delayed assistance also increases the risk of injury, retained membranes and reduced fertility in the cow.

When in doubt, give your vet a call early. We’d much rather talk you through the situation or head out while the calf still has the best chance of a healthy start. 🐄❤️

Beautiful Bentley came in to see us after getting a small cut on his paw. After being the best boy for his visit, he decided to lend a helping paw and carry his own medications out! 🥹😂
