Charolais

The 150th Ekka hosted the Charolais World Congress, so numbers & quality were very high in this ring. While the 2 heifers we exhibited for P***n Creek Charolais didn’t ribbon we were happy with how they stood up in their classes.

16-u18 mths Female - Brendale Flare
12-u14 mths Female - Brendale Yvette

Angus

We exhibited 10 head across 3 studs in the Angus ring where again the quality was very high across all classes. We were proud of how our cattle looked, with most picking up a ribbon.

8-u12mths Female - Goldenfels Miss Quicksilver - 3rd
12-u16mths Female - Bowenfels Candy
16-u20mths Female - Black Scotch Doris W1 - 1st
16-u20mths Female - Goldenfels Miss Ramco
16-u20mths Female - Goldenfels Miss Royal Roll

36-u60mths Female - Bowenfels Kelsey’s Delight- 2nd
36-u60mths Female - PC Miss Alcatraz T245 (Goldenfels Angus) - 3rd

Ekka 2026 Results - Steers

Huge shout out to Rustic Flare Photography (Aimee Brock) for these amazing photos!

We took 4 steers to the 150th Ekka, and while we had one standout for both hoof & hook, we were pleased with all 4 on the hook.

Class 1 (325-350kg)
Polar - Pure Square Meater steer purchased for Bob from Sunset Park Square Meaters at the Toowoomba Show Square Meater steer sale - Nothing in the led class, Equal 2nd in the carcass on points but ended up 4th after tie break.

Class 3 (376-400kg)
Sparky - Speckle Park x Limo purchased from Combined Forces Sale Oct 2025. 1st in led class, Champion Lightweight Led Steer. MSA Eating Quality Award. Equal 4th in the carcass on points (but lots of tie breaks)

Class 5 (431-460kg)
Chippy - Speckle Park x Limo purchased from Knopke Family. Nothing in led, top 10 in carcass

Class 5 (431-460kg)

And that’s Ekka done for 2026. Took a trip down memory lane today before they tear down the old cattle sheds. It really was a very different Ekka experience in those days. If these walls could talk 😂

It’s been a fortnight of ups & downs but we have made it through thanks to our amazing team ( again we were too busy and forgot to get a team pic 🥺)

Will post results & pics in near future.
