Here is Louie and Poppy,

They've been visiting the crazy water lady for many years, Poppy doesn't like her chest or feet blow dried, Louie says 'leave my butt alone with all of it'.
However, as I say to them every time, 'you need to get wet to get clean', and 'you can't show off to mum and dad if you are still wet'.
So with a lot of coaxing, a few trick gymnastics moves on my part, and treats at exactly the right time, we get there. Oh dear, Golden Retrievers are the most beautiful, cute, characters, but are definitely easily offended by being touched anywhere they personally draw a boundary, like the true Princes and Princesses that they are.
But those faces, just look at them, they deserve to be as pedantic as they like. 😁♥️🐕🐾

Storm has the most amazing blue eyes. The photo doesn't do them any justice. She's absolutely adorable, sweet natured, and stands patiently while I trim her nails and pamper her.
Not a huge furnado, but that coat is so thick that it literally resists all efforts to get her dry and blown out, all the more reason to clear the shedding undercoat, but I refuse to lose, that little girl is going home clean, dry and an armful of shedded undercoat lighter. A very unique and stunning looking Pooch. ♥️🐕🐾♥️

Casey is 14 years young and has been coming to me for her regular wash and de-shedding for the past 5 years.

As dogs age, it’s very common to see small growths, skin tags, and the occasional hot spot appear. Casey is no different — but what matters is how these changes are observed and managed over time.

Recently, a growth had appeared quite quickly between visits and become inflamed on her neck.
During her wash, it became clear that her collar had been rubbing on the area and causing irritation.
After gently cleansing the skin and talking it through with her owner, she was taken to the vet and the growth was removed.

Alongside this, we also looked at some simple ways to gently support inflammation through her diet.
These small additions, tailored to the individual dog and circumstances, can help support both skin health and general comfort, particularly in older dogs.
This is where holistic skin and coat care becomes more than just having your dog washed.

A thorough wash and blow dry often reveals far more than people realise — it allows the coat to open up and the skin to be seen clearly, making it much easier to gently assess any early signs of irritation, coat changes or underlying issues.

When the skin is hidden beneath trapped undercoat — changes are easily missed.
Once fully de-shed and dried, the coat lifts, separates, and also allows the skin to breathe.

Keeping that undercoat well cleared over time has meant that even at 14, Casey still carries a soft, thick coat with beautiful colour — she truly doesn’t look her age 💛🐾🐕♥️

For those interested in the products I use and what “natural” means in practice 🐾

All shampoos and conditioners used at Pampered Pooch Parlour are Australian made and based on natural, plant-derived ingredients.
These include ingredients such as jojoba oil, colloidal oatmeal, neem oil, aloe vera, coconut, lavender and chamomile — all chosen to support skin and coat health.

The formulations are pH balanced, use plant-based cleansers, and are free from sulphates, parabens, phosphates, enzymes and bleaches.

They also include natural proteins, vitamins and gentle preservatives derived from fruits and vegetables.

Products are biodegradable, cruelty free, and designed to work with the dog’s skin — not against it.

This is part of how I approach supporting skin, coat and overall wellbeing in a gentle and considered way.

I offer holistic canine skin and coat care in Little Grove, Albany.

Services include hydrobath washing, blow drying, de-shedding and nail clipping.
I don’t offer clipping or styling — my focus is on coat health, skin support, nutrition and overall wellbeing.

A thorough wash and blow dry often reveals far more than people realise — it allows the coat to open up and the skin to be seen clearly, making it much easier to gently assess any early signs of irritation, coat changes or underlying issues.

As a certified Animal Naturopath, with additional training in canine behaviour, nutrition and natural therapies, I also provide practical, supportive advice around skin, coat and diet.

Every pooch deserves to feel their best — naturally.

Any advice I provide is intended to support your dog’s overall wellbeing and is not a replacement for veterinary care. For ongoing or serious concerns, I always recommend consulting your vet.

Simone Barker has been running Pampered Pooch Parlour in Little Grove since 2020, and her qualifications enable a truly holistic level of care. She holds multiple animal health certifications, including certified Animal Naturopath, Canine Nutrition, and Canine Behaviour, along with many certifications in natural therapies.

Services cover warm hydrobath, blow dry, de-shedding, and nail clipping ($5 with any wash), with natural paraben-free shampoos. All breeds, all sizes. Flea rinse is complimentary if required. Regularly booked clients also get free dietary and coat care advice directly from Simone.

I know that OG gets a mention here quite regularly, but seriously, when we create this kind of magic together, she's earned it! She missed her last appointment and what a difference it makes to the sheer volume of her furnado! If you happened to be passing by today, I doubt you would have been able to see us through the huge cloud of swirling white hair! A 2½ hour job and I know she's feeling much better, she certainly looks amazing. 🐕♥️🐾♥️

Max came to see the crazy water lady. He was relaxed and patient. He must enjoy a bath because usually Golden Retrievers need a bit of gentle persuasion on their first visit. He's obviously done this many times before and is just a very good boy by nature. That gorgeous face just says 'love me' ... and 'pass me another treat please'. Beautiful boy. ♥️🐕♥️♥️♥️
