❤️HAZEL❤️ - Assisted Rehoming

PLEASE NOTE: HAZEL IS NOT IN OUR CARE
Hazel is an assisted rehoming case

Hazel is a small Cavoodle with a gentle, sensitive nature and a strong need for safety and connection. Once she feels comfortable, she is incredibly affectionate and loves being close to her person, happily curling up beside you for quiet company.

Hazel has been with her current family since she was 8 weeks old. From a young age, she showed signs of anxiety. Unfortunately, the home environment has become quite busy and unpredictable, and Hazel is not coping or thriving in that setting.

She is looking for a calmer, more predictable home where she can feel safe and supported.

Hazel can be wary of new people. When she feels unsure, she may bark and can occasionally urinate. This is not disobedience, but a stress response when she feels overwhelmed. With the right support, she is capable of building confidence and learning new skills, and she has already shown that she engages well in training.

She is best suited to an adult home, or one with older (15+), dog-savvy children who understand how to respect her space and boundaries. Hazel needs people who will take the time to understand her communication, particularly around handling and touch. Grooming and physical handling can be stressful for her, so this will need to be approached gradually and with patience.

Hazel prefers a quieter lifestyle and is much more comfortable indoors than out in busy environments. She will thrive with someone who enjoys a slower pace of life and is happy to continue building her confidence through structured, positive training.

Hazel is a clever little dog who wants to get it right. With consistency, patience, and the right support, she has so much potential to become a more confident and settled companion.

❤️Non-Negotiables for Hazel’s Home

Hazel is looking for a home that can commit to her ongoing care and development. This includes:

❤️Ongoing Medical Management

Hazel has hyperthyroidism, which requires continued veterinary care and medication. Her future home must be comfortable and consistent with managing this over the long term.

❤️Commitment to Ongoing Training and Support

Hazel will need continued guidance to build confidence, particularly around people, handling, and everyday environments. Her new owner should be willing to continue training and implement structured support to help her succeed.

If you are interested in adopting Hazel, please get in touch with Tiffany via email at [email protected]

*Tiffany is not Hazel’s current owner; she is also providing assistance.

This National Volunteer Week, we understand that not everyone has the capacity to volunteer regularly. But we want you to know that you can make an impact with just a small amount of your time! 🐾

We're looking for volunteers to help us collect and deposit 10c recyclable cans and bottles. Every single cent raised goes directly toward helping dogs in need. It's an easy way to give back, help the environment, and support our special souls!

Whether you collect at home, set up a collection at your workplace, or ask a local cafe or business to save yours for you. Every 10-cent container adds up and makes such a big difference! ✨

Here’s how you can get involved:
1.🍾 Collect: Gather your empty, eligible drink containers (look for the "10c" mark).
2. ♻️ Return: Take them to a collection depot, reverse vending machine, or retail return point across South Australia.
3. 💰 Earn and Donate: For each container, you will receive 10 cents back. Once you have received your refund, you can donate that money via the details below:

Volunteering offers numerous benefits; it can provide you with a deeper sense of purpose and fulfilment. Additionally, it’s a fantastic way to meet like-minded people and support a cause you care about.

Volunteering in animal rescue can be challenging, but it is incredibly rewarding. There’s no greater feeling than knowing you played a part in changing an animal’s life, or that you were there for them when they had nowhere else to go.

There’s a special kind of magic in the eyes of a dog who knows they’ve finally found their person. 🐾✨

Today is National Rescue Dog Day, and we’re celebrating the incredible, unwavering devotion of dogs who’ve transitioned from "rescued" to "family." When you adopt from a rescue organisation, you aren't just getting a pet—you're gaining a loyal companion who knows exactly what it means to be home.

Why choose a rescue dog? ❤️🐶

You’re saving a life. Every rescue adoption clears a spot for another dog to be pulled from a high-risk situation.

Foster-vetted. Most rescue dogs live in foster homes, meaning they are already socialised, house-trained, and their true personalities are known.

The perfect match. Rescue volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the dog’s temperament matches your lifestyle perfectly.

Health and care. Rescue pups come fully vetted, vaccinated, and desexed, so you can focus on bonding from day one.

Unmatched gratitude. There is a profound, unique bond formed when a dog realises they never have to worry about where they belong again.

🌟 Bonus: The Magic of Special Needs Pups 🌟
Looking for an even deeper connection? Consider a dog with special needs. Whether they are tripod, blind, deaf, or have a chronic health condition, these "imperfect" pups have a perfect way of teaching us about resilience and unconditional love. They don't see themselves as "different"—they just see you as their hero. Adopting a special needs dog isn't just about giving them a life; it's about letting them change yours.

Whether they’re a "Heinz 57" mix or a purebred who fell on hard times, rescue dogs are pure heart. 🐶❤️

To celebrate your own rescue dog/s, be sure to give them extra attention, or even an extra treat or two, today!

National Volunteer Week is a time for us to recognise, thank, and celebrate the amazing contributions of millions of volunteers across the country! It’s also a wonderful opportunity for everyone to explore the joy and community spirit that comes from giving back.

We’re proudly 100% volunteer-run, fueled by the belief that every dog, no matter their ability, deserves to be seen, heard, and loved.

Although we’re a new rescue still counting down to our first birthday, our dedicated team brings over 70 years of volunteer experience helping animals in need.

Volunteering not only makes a positive impact on our community but also helps us all connect and grow closer together. And let’s be honest, helping in animal rescue saves lives—and there’s truly no greater reward than that!

So, to all wonderful volunteers, a huge THANK YOU for sharing your time and loving hearts to help make the world a brighter place! You’re simply the best! ❤️🌟🐶

UNDERSTANDING DOG PETTING: 🐶🤚
Where dogs like to be pet and where to avoid.

💚 The Green Zone (Yes, Please!)

Most dogs love being petted here:
• Chest: The ultimate safe zone for initial greetings.
• Base of neck: Great for gentle scratching.
• Shoulders: A relaxing spot that builds trust.
• Behind the ears: Pure bliss for most canines.

⚠️ The Yellow Zone (Proceed with Caution)

Only touch these areas if you know the dog well:
• Top of the head: Many dogs dislike hands coming from above.
• Back and spine: Keep strokes long and gentle.
• Base of the tail: Can be highly sensitive.

🛑 The Red Zone (Stop & Avoid)

Most dogs prefer you stay away from these sensitive areas:
• Paws and legs: Often triggers a defensive reflex.
• Muzzle and face: Feels restrictive and invasive.
• Tail: Sensitive and essential for balance/communication.
• Underbelly: Only touch if they roll over comfortably.

Every dog is an individual! Always watch for loose, wiggly body language, and stop if they stiffen up or walk away.
