🐰DID YOU KNOW WE SEE RABBITS TOO?

Rabbits may be small, but their healthcare is just as important! Many rabbit owners aren’t aware of the routine veterinary care available for their bunnies, so we thought we’d share a little about what we can do here at MiVet Leeton. 🩺

💉 RABBIT VACCINATIONS

Rabbits can be vaccinated from 10 weeks of age against Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV), commonly known as calicivirus.

Calicivirus is a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease that can affect both indoor and outdoor rabbits. Vaccination is an important part of protecting your bunny, and regular boosters are required to maintain protection.

✂️ RABBIT DESEXING

Did you know we also offer desexing for both male and female rabbits?

Desexing can have several health and behavioural benefits and can, of course, prevent unwanted litters, especially if you have more than one bunny at home! 🐰🐰

🩺 GENERAL RABBIT HEALTHCARE

We can also see rabbits for general health concerns and check-ups. Rabbits are very good at hiding when something is wrong, so changes in their eating, drinking, toileting or behaviour should always be taken seriously.

Whether you’ve just welcomed a new bunny into the family or have a long-time fluffy companion, we’re here to help keep them happy and healthy. 💙

📞 Give the team at MiVet Leeton a call if you’d like to discuss your rabbit’s vaccination, desexing or general healthcare needs.

🐰 Because our smaller patients deserve great care too! 🩺💙

🌸🐾 SPRING HAS SPRUNG… AND SO HAS ALLERGY SEASON! 🐾🌸

The warmer weather, longer days and blooming gardens are finally here! ☀️🌼 But along with all the lovely things spring brings, it can also mean the return of seasonal allergies for some of our furry friends.

Just like us, dogs and cats can react to environmental allergens such as pollen, grasses and plants. However, allergies in our pets don’t always look quite the same as they do in people!

Keep an eye out for:
🐾 Licking or chewing at paws
👂 Itchy, red or irritated ears
🌸 Red, itchy or inflamed skin
🐶 Excessive scratching or rubbing
👀 Watery or irritated eyes
🧴 Hair loss or skin changes from persistent licking and scratching

If you notice your pet becoming particularly itchy as the weather warms up, it may be worth having them checked. Persistent scratching and licking can damage the skin and sometimes lead to secondary infections, so getting on top of the itch early can make for a much happier spring! 💙

If you’re concerned about your pet’s skin or think allergies might be causing their itch, give the team at MiVet Leeton a call to organise a consultation. 🩺🐾

Even Miss.Lila suffers from seasonal allergies, the picture is what it looks like when she flares up.

🌼 Happy Spring from the MiVet team! 🌼

🐍⚠️ SNAKE SEASON IS HERE ⚠️🐍

As the weather warms up, snakes become more active, increasing the chance of encounters with our pets.

Please read the following carefully.

Dogs and cats are naturally curious, and a snake bite can quickly become life-threatening.

🐾 Signs of a possible snake bite include:
• Sudden weakness, wobbliness or collapse
• Shaking or trembling
• Vomiting
• Dilated pupils
• Excessive drooling
• Difficulty breathing
• Paralysis or inability to stand
• Blood in the urine

⚠️ Some pets may collapse after a bite, then appear to recover temporarily. This does not mean they are out of danger.

🐱 Cats can be particularly tricky. Signs may be delayed or less obvious than in dogs, and they can deteriorate later. If your cat may have encountered a snake, seek veterinary advice even if they appear well.

🚨 If you see your pet with a snake or suspect they have been bitten, contact a veterinarian immediately.

Keep your pet calm and still, and carry them rather than allowing them to walk where possible. Do not attempt to catch or kill the snake, and never put yourself at risk trying to identify it.

With snake bites, time matters. If you’re unsure whether your pet was bitten, seek veterinary advice.

🌿 Reduce risks around your home by keeping grass short, clearing debris and limiting potential hiding places.

Stay alert as the weather warms and keep those curious noses safe! 🐶🐱💙

🐾 REMEMBER THIS LITTLE FACE? 🐾

Some of you might remember back in April when we shared a very special arrival at MiVet. On 2 April 2026, this little pup was one of a litter delivered right here at the clinic by Caesarean section. 🥹❤️

Well… look who came back to visit us!

Now almost 5 months old, a LOT has changed! From a tiny newborn who could barely fit in our hands, to this gorgeous, happy pup with a whole lot of personality. He wasn’t partially fond of the lead but we are sure he will get used to it.

We couldn’t resist going back through the photos from the day the litter was born. It’s pretty special getting to see them at the very beginning of their lives and then having them walk back through our doors months later all grown up.

Moments like these are one of our favourite parts of veterinary care.

Of course, we couldn’t celebrate International Dog Day without giving a special shoutout to our clinic favourite, Ricky!
