We have had a critically injured and unwell stray brought into us this morning. She is a female black and white cat, with a tattoo in the ear but no microchip who was found in Youngtown. if you believe this may be your family member, please call us on 6331 9405 no later than 3pm today. Thank you

🐾 Happy Vet Nurse Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating our wonderful Veterinary Nurses, Receptionists and Kennel Nurse staff who keep Animal Medical Centre running 💛

From monitoring anaesthetics and caring for hospital patients to answering your calls, organising appointments, keeping everyone clean and comfortable, and offering reassurance when it’s needed most, their work makes a difference every day.

There’s so much that happens behind the scenes, and every role matters.

Thank you to our team for your skill, compassion, hard work and humour, even on the busiest days.

A sneak peak into some of our recent visitors of the Cat Clinic! 💛

🏆 Did you know we’re a Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic?
We’re accredited through the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) and are incredibly proud to be one of only three veterinary hospitals in Tasmania to hold Gold Standard accreditation.
We are only one of three vet hospitals in Tasmania to achieve this and the only clinic in the north of the state.

But what does Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation actually mean?
As a gold standard feline friendly clinic our staff uphold a recognized standard of care to ensure your cats have the best experience with as minimal stress for your cat while in the clinic, by handling and treating cats with understanding, gentleness and respect. Our staff are trained in friendly handling and interactions to help minimize your cat’s stress. We keep up to date with the latest information on feline medicine and care and have feline specific equipment to assist in the management of care.
Our facilities mean we can hospitalize cats comfortably, they are not stressed from loud noises and a reception full of dogs while waiting for appointments, consult rooms are free from scents left by dogs and they do not have see or hear dogs while they spend the day in hospital.

Meet Chet!
Chet is a 10 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier that came in recently for his routine castration and was such a good boy for our team. He soaked up plenty of sun and cuddles with us before going home 💙

Meet Penny, the sweetest Cavalier King Charles Spaniel! 💛

Penny has diabetes and recently spent the day with us while we monitored her response to insulin.

Regular check-ins help us see how treatment is working - these may involve a blood test or a day stay to check blood over time.

If your dog is drinking or urinating more than usual, eating more but losing weight, or is due for a diabetes review, give us a call on 6331 9405 to book in your check up 📱

I guess we know who Frankie is gunning for on Saturday 🏆
Frankie is ready for the weekend.. but while the BBQ is firing up, remember that not everything on the plate is safe for our four-legged friends!
Sausages, fatty BBQ scraps, cooked bones, onions and corn cobs can all cause problems for dogs, so keep those tasty treats safely out of reach. Sometimes sharing is not caring!
If your weekend BBQ doesn't quite go to plan and your pet gets into something they shouldn't, we're open for appointments and here for your pet's needs over the weekend 🐾

Meet Dr Martin Chu!
Dr Martin is one of our newest vets to join the team, and you may have seen him around our clinics recently!
He studied veterinary science at Massey University in New Zealand before making the move to little ol' Tassie with his wife and their very loved two cats, Yuzu and Neroli 🐈
Dr Martin works across all three of our clinics, so you might spot him at a few different locations! He has a special interest in soft tissue surgery with a goal to expand into more advanced orthopaedics. Dr Martin previously worked as a mixed animal veterinarian, so he's a fan of all animals big and small 🐶🐱
Outside of work, he enjoys exploring Tasmania and making the most of everything Tassie has to offer (sometimes the cats are along for the ride!)
We’re very lucky to have him on the team!
