Today’s post is a difficult one for us to share.
Unfortunately, we need to let you know that Melissa’s cancer has returned.
Because of this, we have had to make some incredibly tough decisions. One of the hardest has been choosing not to bring Dina the Green Wing Macaw into our flock.
We are incredibly grateful to her breeder, Linda from Macaws & More, who has committed to finding Dina the best home possible—one where she will thrive with the time, stability, and dedication she deserves.
Although we never had the chance to meet her, Dina was already deeply loved by both Nathan and Melissa. This decision was made with a heavy heart, but ultimately in the best interest of her welfare and future.
Many of you know Melissa as the heart behind Majick Feathers—the one who has dedicated her life to understanding parrots, building trust through training, and helping others create stronger, more positive relationships with their birds. Her journey has always been one of resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of every feathered friend she meets.
As she begins treatment again, our focus is where it needs to be—on her health, her strength, and giving her the time and space to rest and recover. At the same time, we are ensuring that the birds currently in our flock continue to receive the care, enrichment, and attention they deserve each and every day.
We will also be stepping back from a number of Majick Feathers shows, events, and business activities for the time being. This pause allows us to prioritise what matters most right now—Melissa’s wellbeing and the continued care of our flock.
Majick Feathers has always stood for “Training Over Taming,” and at its core, that philosophy is about respect, patience, and making the best choices for those in our care—even when those choices are incredibly hard.
We truly appreciate the support, kindness, and understanding from this amazing community. Your messages, encouragement, and continued support mean more than we can put into words.
We’ll share updates when we can. For now, thank you for standing with us
