**Veterinary Hospital Assistant**

**About the Role**
Please note that this role is primarily focused on hospital support and maintenance, rather than direct animal care.
The successful applicant will help maintain a clean, organised, and efficient hospital environment while supporting our veterinarians and nurses in the delivery of patient care.
Duties include:
• Cleaning and maintaining hospital, treatment, kennel, and ward areas
• Washing and changing patient bedding
• Laundry and housekeeping duties
• Restocking consumables and supplies throughout the clinic
• Cleaning, preparing, and organising equipment
• Assisting veterinarians and nurses with treatments and patient care as directed
• General hospital organisation and maintenance
• Supporting the team to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic
While there will be some interaction with animals, applicants should understand that this is not primarily an animal-handling role. The majority of the position involves maintaining the hospital environment, supporting patient care behind the scenes, and ensuring the clinic operates to a high professional standard.

**Future Career Development**
This is not a Veterinary Nursing Trainee position.
While a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing Traineeship may be offered to the right candidate in the future, this would not be considered for a minimum of 12-18 months and is dependent on demonstrated performance, reliability, commitment, initiative, and suitability for the profession.
This position is designed to provide applicants with genuine exposure to the day-to-day realities of working in a veterinary clinic. The initial employment period allows both the employee and the clinic to determine whether a long-term career in the veterinary industry is the right fit. It provides an opportunity for individuals to develop a clear understanding of the profession, its expectations, and the responsibilities involved before committing to formal veterinary nursing training.
Applicants should understand that appointment to this role does not guarantee progression to a traineeship, and that any future training opportunities will be offered solely at the discretion of the clinic based on performance, suitability, and business requirements.
