Unlike some of our patients, beautiful Shilo doesn’t mind hopping straight onto the scales! 🐾⚖️

While some pets may need a little encouragement (and perhaps a few treats 😉), regularly weighing your pet is an important part of monitoring their overall health.

Keeping an accurate record of your pet’s weight can help us:
🐾 Monitor gradual weight changes over time
💊 Ensure medications are prescribed at the correct dose
🔍 Identify unexpected weight loss or weight gain, which can sometimes be an early sign of an underlying health condition

So, next time you’re visiting us, don’t be surprised if we ask your furry friend to hop on the scales! A quick weigh-in can provide us with some very important information about their health. ❤️

Thankfully, Shilo makes our job easy! 🥰

Meet the beautiful Charlie-Brown! 🐾🤎

Recently, while out on a walk, Charlie-Brown found himself a tasty kebab stick to chew on. Unfortunately, Dad wasn’t quite quick enough to remove it before Charlie-Brown swallowed it!

After a couple of visits to the vet and being unable to pass the stick on his own, Charlie-Brown needed to undergo an exploratory laparotomy.

During surgery, the kebab stick was found to have perforated through the wall of the small intestine and extended into the abdominal cavity. 😱

Dr Jen was able to carefully remove the kebab stick and resect the section of perforated bowel, giving Charlie-Brown the best chance at a full recovery.

We’re very happy to report that Charlie-Brown has made a wonderful recovery and is now back to his happy, cheeky self! 🥰🐶

A great reminder that those tempting leftovers and food scraps can sometimes cause our pets more trouble than we realise. 🩷

We’re so glad to see you feeling better, Charlie-Brown! 🤎

To my wonderful clients, due to unforeseen circumstances, I will be unable to offer afterhours hands-on emergency care tomorrow Wednesday 19th August.

I do sincerely apologise for this inconvenience however this is beyond my control.

Please remember that VetChat triage phone service is still available for ongoing advice and care over the phone.

For hands-on care our only option is Animal Emergency Service (AES) in Hobart.

Thank you so much, Dr Jen

To my dear clients,

Please be advised that I will be taking annual leave from 1 September to 30 September inclusive.

During this period, our clinic’s normal daytime services will continue as usual. However, overnight afterhours services (call outs) through our clinic will be unavailable while I am away.

For afterhours concerns during this time:

1. Veterinary advice will be available through VetChat for phone triage consultations.
2. For pets requiring hands-on emergency veterinary treatment overnight during weekdays, the only available 24-hour emergency provider will be the Animal Emergency Service (AES) in Hobart, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
3. Weekend emergency arrangements will remain unchanged through the Animal Emergency Hospital in Kings Meadows.

We understand that travelling for emergency care can be stressful, particularly in regional Tasmania, and we appreciate your understanding during this period.

We strongly encourage pet owners to contact us as early as possible during normal clinic hours if they are concerned about their pet becoming unwell, rather than waiting until later in the evening whenever possible.

I would greatly appreciate your understanding as I have, for many years been working on call every night during the week and I hope that everyone can understand the toll that does take on me as a vet and owner of the business. I do require a break in order to take care of myself from time to time.

Thank you for your care, support and understanding on this matter. It is greatly appreciated.

Warm regards, Dr Jen Griffiths

What a very special night!

We may not have brought home the win but to have made it this far was an achievement in itself.

A huge thank you to this wonderful team for sharing such a great night and celebrating fantastic business in Launceston. 🍾

Thank you to the local business awards, sponsors and to everyone who nominated us. It meant so much! ❤️

On Wednesday 12th August the clinic will close a little earlier at 5pm. Our team has been given the opportunity to celebrate being a finalist in the Local Business Awards at the Country Club!!

As a result, in-person after hours will not be available but our Vetchat Triage service is always available to ensure you have access to any advice needed.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding to enjoy this small amount of time out to allow the team to be rewarded for all of their very hard work.

Thank you once again and all normal service resumes again the following day. XX 🥰
