1️⃣ What is your involvement in greyhound racing, how long have you been involved and how did you get started?
🔸 I’ve been involved in the greyhound racing industry my whole life. When I was younger, I would spend all day with my dad outside on the farm, mainly just playing with all the puppies. Now that I am older, I mainly go to tracks and handle; I typically do around 3-4 tracks a week. It’s exactly where I want to be. I have always had such a close bond with the dogs for my whole life. Being a part of the industry for so long made me realise I couldn’t imagine not working with animals on a daily basis.
2️⃣ What’s been your proudest moment in the industry so far?
🔸 The proudest moment I have had in the industry so far would be when I handled and won the 2025 Cranbourne Cup with Colac Kid. At the time, this was one of the biggest races I had handled in, and to be a part of that win was so special to me and my whole family.
3️⃣ What’s one misunderstood thing about the industry you want people to know?
🔸 One misunderstood thing about the industry would be the passion and love we have for all our dogs, especially when they finish racing. My family have rehomed nearly all our dogs, making sure they are in a loving home once they have retired. This is one of the most rewarding parts of the greyhounds’ life when with us. It brings my family such joy to see them come from their happy racing life, then into their forever home.
4️⃣ What’s a goal you have for the future?
🔸 A goal for the future is to try to keep the industry positive and viable for the years to come. There’s so much love in the industry that is often looked over at times.
5️⃣ What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to become involved in greyhound racing?
🔸 Something I would recommend for people wanting to become involved is to find a mentor that’s had solid success and results. It’s important to learn from people who have had proven success in the industry.
Great stuff, Mia! A wonderful inspiration to young females coming through the ranks 💕
