From nail trims, cuddles and anxious patients to emergency resuscitation, intensive nursing care, client education and cleaning up the occasional rather unpleasant surprise… our nurses do it all!

Veterinary nursing is about far more than cuddles It takes knowledge, skill, compassion, patience and the ability to stay calm when things don’t go to plan.

Today, we celebrate the incredible veterinary nurses who work tirelessly behind the scenes and on the front lines to keep our patients safe, comfortable and cared for.

Vet 2 Pet will be CLOSED on the Grand Final public holiday.

Our team will be taking a well-earned day off to enjoy the long weekend and, for some of us, watch the footy!

But we know pets don’t exactly check the public holiday calendar before getting themselves into trouble!

THINGS YOUR VET WISHES YOU KNEW…

We can’t cure your pet’s allergies.

We wish we could! Skin allergies can be one of the most frustrating things to deal with — for pets, owners AND vets.

We often hear things like:

“As soon as we stop the medication, it comes back again.”

or

“My last vet couldn’t cure my dog’s ear infection.”

The tricky thing is that allergies are usually something we MANAGE rather than cure, depending what they are allergic too.

So what can we do?
We can treat the secondary infections, control the itch and inflammation, reduce flare-ups and help keep your pet comfortable long-term.

The good news is that treatment has come a long way in recent years, and we have more options than ever to help itchy and allergy-prone pets.

But allergies can be a bit of a rollercoaster. Just when you think you’ve got everything under control, another flare-up can appear!

Keeping allergies under control often means ongoing treatment and maintenance.
It can take some trial and error to work out what works best for each individual pet.

And if you’re feeling frustrated by your pet’s skin problems… we get it. We’re frustrated too! We know how much you just want to see your pet comfortable and happy.

There might not be a cure, but there are plenty of ways we can help your pet live a much more comfortable life.

Dr Maddy – Kelpie

HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY!

Today we celebrate the incredible dogs who have come into our lives and given us so much love, happiness, laughter and companionship. They have a way of making ordinary days better and leaving the biggest paw prints on our hearts.

An extra special shout out to the Vet2Pet staff dogs who are very much part of our extended clinic family — Honey, Doug, Eevee, Daisy May, Jessie, Skeeter, Lexi, Fawkes, Maverick, Hero, Harley and Maisie.

Some are professional couch loungers, some are ball-obsessed, some are a little bit chaotic… but every single one of them is deeply loved.

Here’s to the dogs who greet us like we’ve been gone for years, make us laugh when we need it most, and somehow convince us that sharing our dinner is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

Happy National Dog Day to all our beautiful canine friends, past and present. We’re so lucky to have you.

Just a reminder for all our exotic pet owners that Dr. Maddy leaves in 13days (not that she is counting or anything). She will be unavailable during the month of September.

Exotic Pet Parents!

Dr Maddy will be away for the month of September on a very well deserved break and will be unavailable for consults. For people wanting a checkup, please book in before the end of August, or once she is back in October.
