Our Rabbitry will sadly be going into lockdown and quarantining for at LEAST 3 months.
We have had a confirmed case of Myxomatosis and sadly we’ve had her euthanised to put an end to her suffering.

At this stage we do not know how many other rabbits were infected before biosecurity measures were implemented.

If you have received a rabbit from us in the last 14 days please isolate that bunny immediately (though unlikely to be infected if not already showing symptoms)

With Myxo breaking out in the area I highly recommend keeping outside bunnies cages wrapped in mosquito netting! It is HIGHLY contagious, spreads like wildfire through mosquitoes, flies, fleas, contaminated objects and physical touch. It’s mortality rate is near on 100%.
Keep your eyes open for redness or swelling on your Bunnings eyelids, lips, ears, genitals/vulva/scrotum.
And deceased bunnies are best cremated to reduce spread through bug contamination.

F10 or VirkonS are the best option for disinfecting contaminated cages and equipment

We are located in Lancefield VIC. So please be aware this AWFUL disease is in the area, and protect your bunny pals.

I’ve attached some photos of poor Salem and her symptom progression

Feel free to go and sign as many “allow domestic rabbits acces to Myxo vaccination” petitions as you can find! 💔
