If you’re not reading the back of your dog’s food bag, you should be.
Our dogs rely on us to make informed decisions because they can’t do the research themselves.
The front of this bag has beautiful images of premium cuts of Lamb, fresh fruit and healthy ingredients but when you turn it over and read the ingredient list, the story is very different.
According to the ingredients list, there’s more salt (by weight) than there is carrot, blueberries, rosemary and cranberries. So how much of those ingredients do you really think is in the food? And if the amounts are that small, should they be the ingredients featured so prominently on the front of the packaging?
In my opinion, it’s misleading. It gives the impression those ingredients are a significant part of the recipe when they’re not. I think it’s deceptive, unethical and, quite frankly, treats us like fools.
Next time you remember, read the back of your dog food thoroughly. You may be surprised at what you find! Comment below if you want me to break down a dog food brand or type!
