Yesterday was a very sad day here at Wadari as we said goodbye to our Tooter — Belmont Backstage — at the age of 24. 🤍

I owe so much to that little horse. He wasn’t always the easiest nor was he particularly conventional but he had a big heart, loved to jump and loved going fast.
He taught me so much and made competing at 4* and jumping big jumps so much fun… well, most of the time!

I always wished we had found each other a little earlier but I feel incredibly lucky for the years we did have and for everything we were able to do together.

For the past seven years Tooter got to enjoy retirement as Wadari’s resident nanny — a job he loved and took very seriously.

He’ll be so missed but there are so many memories of that little maniac that will keep us laughing. If Tooter decided he didn’t want to be somewhere or with someone there was very little anyone could do about it. Whether it was jumping out of a paddock or galloping off with whoever was on the end of the lead rope having absolutely no hope of hanging on.

So much fun having Dexter back out at Werribee over the weekend — even if I did ride one related line like a complete muppet. 🙃

We took a big team away and I was absolutely thrilled with how the younger horses stepped up. Plenty to be excited about as they continue to gain confidence and experience out competing.

A massive thank you to the committee and everyone behind the scenes for putting on such a great event. Always a pleasure to be back at Werribee!

It was great to be back out competing at Narrandera with a young team.

Crowny was the star of the show, finishing on his dressage score to take 🥈 2nd place in the CCI1-S*. A really pleasing weekend for the younger horses too, with plenty to take away as they continue to gain experience.

A big thank you to the wonderful REA Wagga committee for putting on another fantastic event. It’s always great to see the work that goes into continually improving the event each year, and we’re excited to see it continue to grow.

As always, a huge thank you to my wonderful sponsors for their ongoing support — it’s very much appreciated.

No rest for the team, with a big group of horses heading to Werribee this weekend. Looking forward to another busy few days of competition!

Wadari Stables is looking for another full time groom to join the team.
We have a breaking, pre training and spelling farm half way between Sydney and Melbourne. Closest big town is Wagga Wagga NSW. The business is predominately racehorses but we also have some eventers.
We have a nice new staff house and a car to use for groceries.
We are a family business and currently have a great, fun team.
We are looking for someone that is willing to commit for at least 6 months and has experience in the horse industry.
We are able to sign off for visa’s.

Shallow River (Lucas) is a is a really exciting 4yo TB.
He is 16’2 and can really move and jump. He is very brave and has a phenomenal temperament to top it off.
He was broken in by us and has been through our system breaking and pre training for a few years. Snaffle mouth.
He has just retired from racing. He didn’t see the point of running fast at all.
He is green but exceptionally quiet on the ground and to ride. He can live in a paddock on his own or with another horse - he really doesn’t care.
He is Equimillion eligible and a gelding with a very bright future.
Jess put her hand up for Lucas a long time ago when he was retired from racing as he has always been a favorite and such a pleasure to work with but unfortunately it has worked out to be terrible timing with so many of her own to ride and compete.
