Veterinary medicine isn’t always predictable.

Behind a closed consult door might be a family hearing difficult news.

In theatre, there might be a patient fighting a little harder than expected.

On a treatment table might be a pet who simply needs more comfort before we can continue.

We don’t rush those moments. We can’t.

If we’re running behind, it’s never because we don’t value your time. It’s because a pet needs us, and we give everything we can, always!

Here are some tips to help your pup feel calmer and happier:

- Watch for signs of anxiety like pacing, restlessness or excessive barking, as these can all be clues.
- Stick to a routine as predictability makes dogs feel secure.
- Daily exercise and play help release stress and build confidence.
- Create a safe space, as a cosy corner with favourite toys can be a calming retreat.
- Talk to our team if anxiety is impacting your dog’s life, as professional support can make all the difference.

Every dog is unique, and showing patience, love and understanding goes a long way toward their wellbeing 🐾💙

Today we celebrate and acknowledge the incredible vets and animal health professionals who care for all animals big and small.

This year’s theme, “Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in the veterinary profession”, reminds us how important it is to welcome people from all backgrounds into this vital field.

Our clinic will be closed on Saturday 25 April in observance of ANZAC Day.

We pause to honour and remember the service and sacrifice of those who have served.

We will resume normal trading hours on Monday 27 April.

Let's give a warm welcome to our new veterinary nurse, Kate 👋🏻

"I’ve been in the industry for nearly 6 years. I’ve been lucky to work and learn under some amazing nurses in my short time in the industry. Helping me grow and learn new skills every day. There is always something interesting in this industry; no two days are ever the same, one reason why I love it.

I have recently started at Kingston Animal Hospital, and everyone is so supportive, kind and caring. My role at Kingston is split between reception and nursing; I enjoy both.

Making sure patients feel comfortable in the clinic is something I’m passionate about, as it can always be a stressful time for our patients and owners as well.

I have a young Jack Russel at home called Emily Jane, as well as a horse called Indy. Both bring me so much joy when I’m with them at home. I love being with my animals and have a strong passion for the outdoors, whether it be riding my horse or taking Emily for walks at the beach with her stepsister, Pippy."
