Introducing the newest member of the team🫈

✨ LUCILLE ✨

Michelle, who you guys will know from classes & walk & trains, has just welcomed home Lucille the German Shepherd this week.

Lucille 🫈 comes from Vonrook German Shepherds down in Victoria 📍 a really reputable working line GSD breeder that nailed Lucille’s socialisation with help from Alex from Refine Your Canine Dog Training

Michelle’s going to be training Lucille to compete in the dog sport PSA 😈 (Protection Sports Association)

You’ll see Michelle & Lucille in class (both as a trainer and a participant to socialise her). Here are a couple of rules:

1. Yes, she’s cute AF, but you need to ask Michelle before patting her as she’s on a strict socialisation program 🧐

2. Please don’t allow your dog to come over and greet her unless Michelle says it ok 🙂‍↔️

3. Please don’t steal Lucille 🙅🏼‍♂️

Attention VONROOK P & Q Puppy Owners:

The socialisation window is OPEN!!

It’s CRITICAL you are exposing your pups and shaping them correctly.

Many people are confused and concerned about the vaccination schedule. Our advise is always be careful in your exposure. Avoid silly places like dog parks where a lot of dogs frequent and try to stick to well maintained areas. Well run dog clubs like the German shepherd clubs, puppy schools and training facilities require older dogs to be fully vaccinated so they are lower risk. Clean pups feet after play.

Return to our original socialisation check list received by email in your info pack for more ideas. Reach out privately if you need!

There always a small risk of infection or disease in this window but weighed up against a lifetime of difficulties raising an unsocialised dog it’s a no brainer… get them OUT!!!!

Any doubt check how prevalent parvo is in your particular area and if you are in a parvo area stay on sealed areas which will reduce the risks.

Socialisation is so much fun with this pup.

This is over about 3 days….

She’s learning from our older dogs Max and Shilo, she’s run with her siblings Vonrook Q and Vonrook Queenie, she’s seen automatic doors, wheels, trolleys at both day and night time, she’s been to South Yarra and played at the park, met new people and polite dogs, she hasn’t missed a beat!! Surfaces, noise, new environments traffic, people and dogs. Easy peasy 😆

Very nice sable female from excellent sport lines.

Now 12 weeks old this puppy continues to impress. She has nice play and prey drive with good off switch and is developing into a very environmentally sound and well balanced young dog.

This video demonstrates her willingness to give just about anything a go. A longer video in the comments showing 2 mins of exposure at the busy airport drop off where she takes all the big machines including airport noise and planes in her stride.

My only hesitation in keeping her ourselves is that we already have an older female to go on with of the same parentage.

Ideally this pup would go to a knowledgeable home and to continue her development in sport.

From the N litter.

Nala is a well balanced dark sable coated female with medium drive.

Environmentally sound with good nerves but a very watchful disposition over the family home. She is a natural guardian whilst still being open and friendly when introduced. Nala and her brother Vonrook Ivan aka Scar from the I litter have just welcomed a newborn into the family. Whilst Scar is great with the addition for Nala it is now her job.

We are also thrilled to announce Nala just passed her hip and elbows.

We are very excited to share that with all going to plan Nala will be added to our breeding programme early next year. We will continue to monitor and assess her development and announce a sire to compliment her perfectly in the coming months.

We are very grateful to her owner for the considerable care in raising a dog with near perfect hips and perfect elbows!

SOCIALISATION WITH VONROOK QUEENIE VONROOK QUIZZIE

A HUGE Thank you to Alex Edwards from Refine Your Canine and Ally and Koda aka Vonrook Goliath from Complete K9 Training Geelong for letting us crash your training! Koda is that handsome bi colour GSD in the video.

Socialisation must be done carefully with puppies. Only safe well known dogs should be allowed to engage. It’s our responsibility to protect the little ones by ensuring they are exposed to balanced play and social interactions with a range of correct and social dogs. We aim to raise open, confident and neutral dogs with stable temperaments. No negative experiences, no rushing or over correcting of puppies, no bullying cornering ect and the pups need to learn manners too…. This is where we start our puppies. Jojo was also raised in these socialisation classes.
