What a **beautiful day** to be a horse owner! Today’s job has been getting those winter rugs off, giving the horses a good check over and letting all those rugs have a much-needed airing in the sunshine. 🌞🧺

Happy horses, fresh air and a gorgeous sunny morning — doesn’t get much better! 🥰

For the snotty nosed pony’s out there.

“Mon dieu… zis discharge — it is suspicious!” 🐴💧
The great mystery of the unilateral snotty nose begins…

Not all nasal discharge is a cause for alarm. Sometimes, it’s just a common cold. But when it’s thick, smelly, and only from one nostril, mes amis, the plot thickens!

Like any good detective, we at GVEH don’t just throw antibiotics at the problem and walk away. Non, non! We follow the clues.

🔎 Could it be a rotten tooth, fractured and festering deep within the sinus?
🦷 Might it be periodontal disease, quietly brewing infection beneath the surface?
📸 Or is it hiding somewhere else — only to be uncovered by X-rays, scopes, or even a CT scan?

Every horse with persistent, purulent nasal discharge deserves more than a guess. At minimum, we must inspect the mouth thoroughly — under sedation — to ensure no dental villainy is at play.

🎩 So if your horse has a suspicious snout, don’t let the trail go cold. Call in the experts —
because every case deserves a proper investigation.

Thank you Cherrie Secomb at Nanga Mai Equine for having us look after things while you were away this Easter long weekend. We took care of AM & PM feeds, rug changes when the rain came, hand walking Miss Ziggy who is coming back from a tendon injury and who also scored her usual weekly bath to keep routines in motion. We love this property and it’s ponies, puppies and people 🥰
