🐾 Crate Training 🐾

Crate training is, for us here at Kiblast, not just a good idea—it is the most important training tool for your puppy. The unpopular opinion that it’s ‘cruel’ is incorrect. Sadly, dogs that aren’t given this vital training are highly prone to severe distress if they are ever presented with an emergency vet stay or a sudden evacuation.

In the wild, dogs sleep in dens. They naturally learn from a very young age that a den is a safe, secure place. They are also taught by their mother that they do not toilet in the den; they naturally exit to go. This is why a crate is your best friend and the perfect tool when you bring your puppy home. That’s exactly why we provide a puppy crate with every single one of our pups—you are basically bringing home a secure den with you, and your training starts on day one!

How are all of our Kiblast dogs going with their crate training? Our keeper girl, Khaleesi, is learning to have some down time at midday, as this is a great time to get some routine in. Dogs are naturally least active at this time, and high-energy dogs really benefit from a bit of structured rest. As you can see, she is sleeping soundly with the door wide open now. This completely busts the myth that a crate is a cruel prison—it truly is her safe den.
