If you’re looking for a safe, experienced and incredibly easy-going all-rounder, Toby is one that deserves a look. 🤎

Troy is a flashy, super relaxed gelding with three beautiful paces and an exceptional temperament to match. He is the type that takes everything in his stride, isn’t spooky or hot, and is genuinely enjoyable to have around.

Troy has plenty of experience under his belt and has competed successfully in Ranch Sorting and Team Penning, as well as Cowboy Racing/obstacle events, where he has won buckles and plenty of ribbons. He is also fantastic out on the trails and very little seems to faze him.

He has also done dressage and hacking and comes with plenty of education, including:

• Flying changes
• Rollbacks
• Side passes
• Three established paces
• Plenty of buttons and a great foundation

He is very much a “put him in the gear you want and he’ll stay there” type of horse. If anything, he is more on the lazy side rather than forward or hot.

He is incredibly forgiving and has happily carried beginner riders and children, including his owner’s granddaughters, and will simply cruise along with them. He does have a big canter due to his size, but once settled into his lope, he happily maintains his rhythm.

While he is quiet and forgiving enough to carry a beginner, due to his size and bigger canter, our preference would be for him not to go solely to a complete beginner home. He would be ideal for a capable rider, family, older rider or someone wanting an extremely safe and experienced mount. A beginner within a suitable family or with guidance would certainly be able to enjoy him.

He is also excellent to handle and is great for the farrier, easy to float and up to date with his vaccinations.

Due to our current employee relocating back to NSW, an exciting opportunity has opened up for someone new to join the M B EQUINE team! 🖤🐴

We’re looking for a reliable, experienced and motivated Rider & Stable Hand who is confident working with a variety of horses, including young/green horses, sale horses and horses in training.

This is a hands-on role and would be perfect for someone who genuinely loves working with horses, takes pride in their work and is happy to get in, get the job done and be part of a busy equine business.

Preston is a beautiful, big bay gelding with plenty of presence and three magnificent, eye-catching paces. He is the type that turns heads wherever he goes and is equally happy working nicely in a frame or cruising along on a loose rein.

He is a kind, easy-going and no-fuss gelding who is straightforward to have around. Preston travels well and settles into new environments with ease. He has proven to be the same genuine horse whether working at home or heading out somewhere new.

Preston has had a great variety of experience throughout his life, including:

🐴 originally Coming from a mustering property
🐮 Previous cattle work
🏇 Low-level dressage competition
🌟 Show jumping up to 60cm
🌿 Hunter trials at 45cm
🏇 XC training at 60cm
🐴 Equitation clinics

Preston has shown absolutely no nasties

He is a safe, genuine type; however, he does require a confident and capable rider. On the rare occasion, Preston can have a scare at something, although this is extremely uncommon and is barely seen when he has a job to focus on. For this reason, we feel he is best suited to someone confident rather than a nervous or inexperienced rider.

Preston doesn’t always walk on the float first go and can take some encouragement

He would make a lovely all-rounder for a capable rider who doesn’t mind a forward-moving horse. Whether you’re looking for a trail horse, farm horse, something to continue with low-level jumping, or a horse to further school in dressage, Preston has plenty to offer. He particularly seems to enjoy his jumping!

On the flat, Preston does have some areas that would benefit from continued education. He can drop his shoulder to the inside on a right-hand circle and could use some further schooling to improve his overall balance. I initially found him a little heavy in the hand; however, once he understood that leg meant soften and lift, the improvement in just one ride was impressive. He became almost a different horse, collecting beautifully and working without pulling into the contact. With continued correct schooling, there is plenty more to unlock in this lovely gelding.
