Big news! ๐ŸŽ‰

Iโ€™m incredibly proud to share that my notโ€‘forโ€‘profit rescue Give a Kitty a Home which I established in 2020, and vet clinic Wyndham Community Vet which I established in 2022, has been awarded a total of $230,000 in Grants through Animal Welfare Victoria, Round 13, to help us expand our services.

Thanks to the generous support of the Victorian Government, weโ€™ll be growing our impact through:

*Project 1: Expanding Affordable Surgery for Large Dog Breeds $100,000.
This funding will allow us to expand our clinic and surgical services to better accommodate large and giant dog breeds, ensuring that more families can access affordable, essential care for their larger pets.

*Project 2: Mobile Vet, Serving Retired, Vulnerable and Disadvantaged Victorians through 2 programs (Pets in Retirement & Nuts about Desexing) $130,000.
This project will help us reach Victorians in retirement communities and those facing transport challenges, isolation, or other barriers that make it difficult to get their pets to a vet. Weโ€™ll be able to bring care directly to the people and animals who need it most.

Weโ€™re incredibly excited to share this next chapter of our growth as we continue to branch out and do greater things for animal welfare in Victoria ๐Ÿพ

To date, weโ€™ve been fortunate to receive multiple grants from Animal Welfare Victoria, which have been an unimaginable lifeline:

*2026: Affordable Surgery for Large Dog Breeds $100,000

*2026: Mobile Vet (Pets in Retirement & Nuts about Desexing) $130,000

*2024: Holding / Recovery Cages $17,129.20

*2023: Project Catalyst $68,000

*2022: Wyndham Community Vet $154,000

Total support we have received by Animal WelfareVictoria within 4 years: $469,129.20

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Animal Welfare Victoria and the Victorian Government for believing in our mission, and to our community for standing beside us every step of the way โค๏ธ

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ

In recent weeks, weโ€™ve been flooded with some very heartbreaking cases. Today alone, several of our newest strays are at the clinic for assessment, pain relief and treatment and the costs are exploding.

These are just some of the little souls youโ€™re helping with your kind donations:

๐Ÿพ Bruce โ€“ Our elderly gentleman. Shy but sweet, with an agonisingly infected mouth, broken teeth, filthy and severely matted, underweight, undesexed with 1 retained testicle in his abdomen. Heโ€™s been suffering quietly for a very long time. Currently on IV fluids.

๐Ÿพ Myki โ€“ Young, feisty and covered in Ringworm. Undesexed and already needing dental work to stop the pain.

๐Ÿพ Tom โ€“ Dumped on a farm and left to fend for himself. Terrified, with Ringworm, undesexed, and in desperate need of dental care.

๐Ÿพ Baby Tabby โ€“ Just 3 weeks old. Found alone and crying in a vacant lot, hungry, cold and helpless. Needs bottle feeds every few hours, help toileting, and to be kept warm around the clock.

๐Ÿพ Poppy โ€“ Found with a ruptured eye and severe infection. She was underweight, unable to eat, dehydrated and needed IV fluids, antibiotics, a specialised diet and intensive nursing for many weeks.

๐Ÿพ Petro โ€“ A young male diagnosed with 'Dry FIP'. His liver and kidneys are enlarged, heโ€™s dehydrated, severely underweight and timid. He is undergoing intensive and very costly treatment with no guarantees โ€“ but we wonโ€™t give up on him.

๐Ÿพ 6 Christmas Babies โ€“ Discovered in a plastic shopping bag over the Christmas break. Theyโ€™ve needed round-the-clock neonatal care, bottle feeding every 3 hours for 5โ€“6 weeks just to survive.

๐Ÿพ Chompers โ€“ Friendly and full of enthusiasm he gives little love bites, in desperate need of extensive dental work.

๐Ÿพ Manny โ€“ Absolutely terrified of the world, and also needing major dental treatment to finally be free from pain.

Every one of these cats deserves a chance at a life without fear, hunger or pain. ๐Ÿ’•

Vet bills, medications, surgeries, desexing, specialised diets, and daily supplies are pushing us to our limits. We receive no other funding to support these costs โ€“ we rely entirely on the generosity of kind-hearted people like you.

How you can help us:
โ— Please donate towels of all sizes, Flannelette sheets which can be cut smaller, and small baby blankets to our clinic located at: 66 Derrimut Rd, Hoppers Crossing.
โ— Please donate canned cat / kitten food.

๐Ÿ™ If youโ€™re in a position to help, please consider donating today.

โœ”๏ธ $10 helps with food and basic supplies
โœ”๏ธ $25 helps cover medications and treatments
โœ”๏ธ $50+ goes directly towards surgeries, dental work, diagnistics, and intensive care

If you canโ€™t donate, we understand times are very tough; please share this post with your friends instead.

From Bruceโ€™s infected mouth, to Poppyโ€™s ruptured eye, to Baby Tabbyโ€™s bottle feeds through the night you are the reason we can say โ€œYes, weโ€™ll take them!โ€

Thank you for standing with us and giving these cats the opportunity they truly deserve.

๐Ÿพ Critical Rules for Hot Weather

NEVER leave a pet in a car:
Cars can turn into ovens, with temperatures soaring over 50ยฐc in just 30 minutes, even with windows cracked, leading to fatal heatstroke.

Avoid midday walks:
Walk your dog only in the early morning or late evening, as footpath remains hot in the afternoon, burning paw pads.

The 5-7 Second Rule:
Place your hand on the footpath for 5-7 seconds. If it is too hot for you, it is too hot for your pet's paws.

Provide constant shade and water:
Ensure pets have access to shade and multiple water bowls, with ice cubes added if possible.

๐Ÿšจ At-Risk Pets
Certain animals require extra care, including:
Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds: Bulldogs, Pugs, Persian cats.
Senior, overweight, or young pets.
Pets with existing heart or respiratory conditions.

โš ๏ธ Signs of Heatstroke
Contact your vet immediately if your pet shows these signs:
Heavy or excessive panting and drooling.
Lethargy, weakness, or stumbling.
Bright red or pale/grey gums.
Vomiting or diarrhoea.
Collapse or seizures.

๐Ÿ’ก How to Keep Pets Cool
Bring them indoors:
Keep pets inside, preferably in air-conditioning, or in front of fans.

Cooling aids:
Use wet towels, cooling mats, or let them wade in a shallow, supervised paddling pool.

Sunscreen:
Apply pet-safe sunscreen to light-colored or hairless pets, specifically on nose tips and ear tips.

Keep pets off hot asphalt:
Walk on grass instead.

๐Ÿ†˜ Emergency Action
If you suspect heatstroke, COOL FIRST, TRANSPORT SECOND:

Move the pet to a cool, shaded area immediately.

Cool them down with cool (not freezing) water on their belly, paws, and neck.

Transport to a vet hospital immediately, as heatstroke is a medical emergency.

๐ŸŒธ Help Us Save This Tiny Fighter โ€“
And Help Us Name Her ๐ŸŒธ

This little angel should weigh around 1.2kg (1200g), she weighed just 0.54kg (540g).

Her tiny body too weak to stand.
Too weak to eat on her own.
Skin and bones, only days away from death due to severe dehydration.

We rushed her to the vet where she was hospitalised immediately.
She received 48 hours of IV fluids, with frequent tiny meals of soft kitten food to slowly build up her strength.

This is not a quick fix ๐Ÿ’”
Her recovery will be a long journey, and she will need intensive, round-the-clock care for many weeks โ€” medications, specialised nutrition, check-ups, and lots of love and warmth.

But she is fighting.
Every small amount of food, every tiny purrโ€ฆ it all means she hasnโ€™t given up... and neither will we ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’• How You Can Help

๐Ÿ“Œ Please keep her in your prayers ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Healing thoughts, prayers, and positive energy.
๐Ÿ“Œ Please donate today to help us give her the future she deserves.
๐Ÿ“Œ Comment a name idea for this little warrior princess.

This tiny life almost slipped away.
But now she has a whole community rooting for her.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for caring about one tiny soul who canโ€™t speak for herself, but is fighting so hard to stay. ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ’ซ
