Update on stable apprentice Shiralee Maher

Shiralee is still slowly progressing from her terrible fall 3-4 months ago. She is back riding track work but hasn't been cleared to ride in trials or races as yet.

She remains to be in good spirits and is working extremely hard to hopefully get back to where she was before her accident.

We thank everyone for all their thoughts and well wishes during this period!

Miss Hissy wins in town at 100/1

Miss Hissy went to Mornington today which was a Melbourne Racing Club city meeting and completely turned her form around winning at the huge odds of 100/1.

Apprentice Chelsea Hall was the pilot and although most people thought during the race that she was going to hard the people connected with this mare knew that this is the way she likes to be ridden.
As it turned out it was a perfectly judged ride as Miss Hissy was able to lead all the way winning by nearly 2 lengths after being 12 lengths in front at one stage!

Great to finally see this mare find her best form and hopefully she can go on from here!

Special thanks to Shiralee Maher, Adrian Duggan, Jakob White, Kelvin Southey, Siggy Carr, Chelsea Hall and all the loyal yet patient owners.

Laughing Heir salutes at Benalla.

Highly promising galloper Laughing Heir won at Benalla last Monday in a teriffic effort.
After being slow away and getting back to last with the big weight of 61.5kg jockey Siggy Carr picked her way through the field in the straight in what was a teriffic ride and a great effort by the horse drawing away on the line for a soft win.
He has now had 3 starts for 2 wins and will only improve with more racing.

Special thanks to Shiralee Maher, Adrian Duggan, Jakob White, Siggy Carr, Kelvin Southey and his extremely loyal owner Pat Browne.

Miss it and a Bit wins first up at Sandown at 33/1.
Bits travelled to Melbourne for a first up tilt and she didn't let us down as usual.
This consistent honest mare was beautifully ridden by apprentice Steph Thornton sitting on pace and drawing away on the line for a strong win.
It was Steph's first metropolitan winner and we were all excited to be a part of it!

Special thanks to Shiralee Maher, Adrian Duggan, Jakob White, Siggy Carr, Kelvin Southey and of course all the loyal owners of this courageous mare!

Update on apprentice Shiralee

Although it's been and continues to be a slow patient time, Shiralee is improving and continues to improve daily.
She is working extremely hard to remain fit at home and at rehab.
She is still having weekly Doctor Appointments and progress is being made slowly.

Once again thank you for all the well wishes and thoughts during this time!

Sir Marmaduke

This 5yo gelding finally broke through for his second career win after a string of placings over the past ten starts.

He was really well handled by Georgie Catania who gave him a lovely ride grabbing victory in the last stride to win!

He will continue to improve as he gets up in trip during the preparation and a special thanks to Troy Baker who has worked with the horse in recent times!

Fearless Filou

Fearless Filou resumed on Sunday with no trial under her belt and an unsuitable trip of 1100m.
Settling second in the run with Siggy Carr aboard she loomed up outside the leader approaching the 200m but just couldn't pick the leader and winner up running 2nd but less than two lengths away.

Run was full of merit as she will only improve with the run and the further she gets up in journey the better she'll become!

Laughing Heir wins on debut

This beautifully bred 3yo son of Street Boss won first up few weeks ago at Launceston.
He was coming off an impressive trial win two weeks earlier and took both his trial and work into his race.
Settling just off the pace with Siggy Carr on board, she was able to get off the fence coming to the corner to be in striking distance on straightening before letting down for a narrow but impressive win.

He was beautifully handled by Siggy who has done all the work with him since stable apprentice Shiralee was injured!

He has been a real work in progress and special thanks to Shiralee Maher, Adrian Duggan, Jakob White, Siggy Carr, Royston Carr and Wayne Brown for all their efforts!

He has now gone to the paddock for a well deserved rest!

Racing Update

It has been a relatively quiet time recently as far as runners are concerned.
But Cuban Missile saluted at Launceston two starts ago and continued his tremendous record.
He was well handled by jockey Steph Thornton and proved far too good.
He then ran 2nd the next start with Shiralee Maher on board and was once again well handled but found one better on the day.
He has now gone to the paddock for a well earned rest after finishing in the money in his past 13 races starts!

Sir Marmaduke resumed at Devonport on Sunday at an unsuitable trip of 1350m, Jockey Troy Baker went back from the wide alley and he worked home well in the straight to finish 5th beaten less than 3 lengths.
He will only improve as he gets up in trip!

Streak On raced at Geelong in Victoria today over 1900m and ran a terrific race running 2nd.
Steph Thornton rated her really well in front and was run down in the straight but was brave hanging on to 2nd place.
She will stay in Victoria for another run or two.

Paul would like to thank everyone for their support since Shiralee mishap especially Adrian Duggan, Jakob White, Simon and Kelly Laws, Siggy Carr, Troy Baker and Georgie Catania.
Paul would also like to thank all his owners for their support and patience during this time.

Update on Shiralee

Stable apprentice Shiralee had surgery last night and had a plate inserted to support her eye socket.
Although she is recovering, the surgery went well with no complications.
She is now looking forward to making a full recovery and be back in the saddle as soon as possible.
Once again we would like to thank everyone for their well wishes.

Update on stable apprentice Shiralee

Unfortunately Shiralee had a fall at track work yesterday and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
After being examined by doctors and all tests completed she has suffered three swollen vertebrae's and a fractured eye socket which needs operating on.
Although obviously very sore she is in good spirits this morning.
On behalf of Paul and the team we would like to thank everyone who assisted Shiralee at a very scary time, too many to mention but all have been thanked personally. We would also like to thank everyone for their well wishes.
We wish Shiralee a speedy recovery and an update will be posted shortly.

Thank you.
