A day in life of The Pet Searcher.

From the moment I get a call, it takes me an hour to drop everything, make sure my pets are feed, grab a bite, prepare food to take, pack what room I have in my small SUV. No room for my trap, that's a seperate trip.

Usually I have all the small items bagged ready to go.

I order a cooked chicken, for the pet, and pick up on the way. I could be travelling, one way, up to 3 hrs, a 6 hr return. Plus time on foot. Latest I've returned home, is 5 a.m.

My kit includes an extra large trap, used for 'Snoopy' and also various crates from sml to x large. My recent trap was $255.

I've also acquired, a drone, thermal scope, which is absolutely amazing at night, a night vision monocular binoculars, leads, nets, leatherman tool , torch, headlamp and need ro replace lost items. The list goes on, as I am always adding. All out of my pocket

My call out fee does not cover my expenses at all, nor reflect the nature of the work involved.

Alll of this and more, to support you and your missing animals.

Those of you who'd remember Snoopy, I spent 21 days on foot, 18 hrs a day.

Recently, I spent 5 days searching, for which 4 days are unpaid. A kind person paid the callout fee, in desperation.

I have had a dog removed from my trap, person claiming to have caught dog in a crate 🤔 . Yes, this job has had it's challenges.

I run this page, post on local pages to specific areas, , speak with newspapers, television and radio interviews, and constantly update every page that I post on.

I walk on foot, carry loads, travel distances, endure heat, rain.

I fall, get up. Trudge mountainous terrain, climb foreshore boulders. On occassion, I've slept in my car.

But, I love it, and am happy to go the distance for your furry friend.

I have been left out of pocket many times.

I enjoy the challenge of finding animals, and happily reuniting them, but not being used as a charity, when I am on a pension.

I will be changing my policies and fees to reflect my services.

So, I just felt the need to share a typical day in the life of The Pet Searcher.

I am no different to any tradesperson who has a call out fee, and ongoing costs, nor any person who steps foot outside their door, to earn a living.

I would love an SUV, or similar, already packed, ready to go. In an ideal world 😉.

In the event of a missing pet, it pays to take a buddy along on the search.

A classic example is the recent search at Knoklofty, West Hobart.

Luca ran past 2 people, yesterday but he was not interested in any human interaction.

Yet when his buddy was bought in, he ran towards David and the bulldog , crying with joy.

I believe he was aware of us, volunteers, walkers. He kept hidden until his mate came to the rescue.

Even though these two dogs live seperately, they connected.

Update Tue 20th.

Thank you West Hobart and West Hobart Karma. Both who helped bring Luca home. 2 phone calls within minutes.

I had Ranger up at Knocklofty quickly.

I have had no communication from his owner to assess Luca's wellbeing from his ordeal.

Once again, Thanks Abc fm, Hobart Fm, my followers, Dog Ranger, volunteers, Kylie, Andrew, David. So many more whom I have not mentioned.

I would like to draw attention to advertisers on Facebook. Two, who advertise drone services.

They are legitimate, but not located in Aus.

There is a legitimate business located in Pennsylvania, USA, however it appears someone local is using their green coloured banner.

There are other business that offer drone surveillance too, I have seen, also located in USA.

If in doubt, do your research.

Never hand money through paypal. Only cash or bank transfer.

Please be careful who you reach out to for finding your pets.

I believe, I am the only person to offer this service in Tasmania. On ground searching. Correct me otherwise.

If in any doubt, I'm happy to hear your concerns.

LUCA HAS BEEN FOUND!🥲😅.

Located near carpark at top of Forest Rd.
He was ecstatic to meet his bully friend.

Luca was sighted in carpark , top of Forest rd. Please keep eye open .
Could be travelling between Poets rd frog pond to Forest Rd reserve. 🤔

Luca went missing in West Hobart on Wed 14th.

He is Mastiff x, tan and white. Microchipped.

He was last sighted running up Hamilton st, and possibly entered Landsdown Crescent Primary School.

We've scoured every inch, and used high tech thermal. He is not there.

If he is at large, he will search for food & water.

He may be hiding under a balcony, backyard, shed, garage, under plants, vegie patch

Maybe someone may have taken him in, and they may not be following social media.

On Sunday, I, am co-ordinating a search, and need door-knockers, on foot, some posters put on poles, and if possible, an experienced drone operator using my drone.

We believe, either Luca is in hiding, or taken in and being cared for.

Please do your pet's a favour to ensure a quick recovery when going walkabout, or missing.

Invest in a GPS collar, bluetoothed to phone.

With the festive season around the corner, New year, fireworks, you could save yourself a lot of grief.

Our pets wear collars and tags, but need this added security.

There are plenty of good GPS collars, you just need to do your research on what suits your needs. Remember, most need regular charging, but they can save you time and heartbreak.

There are some that offer a subscription. Subscription services may offer up to date monitoring.

All of the pets that I search for, could have been found earlier, had they been wearing a GPS collar.

Please drop your comments below, if you prefer a certain brand, even your experiences with these collars.

Ayce update.

Sadly Ayce has crossed the rainbow bridge.

10 month old French Bulldog, 'Ayce' is missing, presumed picked up from Back River Road, Magra.

He has distinctive identifying markings, tan & white, and is microchipped.

CCTV images are being handed over for viewing.

If you know who has picked him up, please encourage his return to the spot of where he taken from.

A good reward is offered for any information leading to his safe return.

If he has been picked up as being lost, a very devastated family would appreciate his return, 'No Questions asked'.
