Just a little clip of one of the most incredible experiences of my life! Learning how these Alaskan Huskies are cared for and trained, and meeting all the varied characters was fascinating. The hierarchy is not based on ‘alpha’ status, with lead dogs (guiding and pace), swing dogs (turning assistance), team dogs (power and pulling) and strong wheel dogs (closest to sled for pulling). This arrangement ensures efficient communication and function, with roles like intelligence for leaders and strength for wheelers, though dogs can rotate positions based on skill.
They absolutely love their job and set off at such an almighty pace, until they’ve got their zoomies out! Then they settle and listen to instructions. What an experience 🐾💕💥

It’s been so good to be back out working! In fact yesterday was Vet Visits’ busiest day ever seeing 31 patients in 16 different locations! 😅
I’m so lucky my right arm is fully functional; left arm is half way there, only another 3 weeks in a cast.
…….. Also Just letting you know that I will be hanging up my stethoscope for 10 days between the sixth and 16 October as I am off to the Royal Veterinary College in London to celebrate 30 years since graduation with my old university friends.

Ive been put back together and am going home today!!!
1. Broken / crushed end of radius
2. Torn CFU tendon fixed by plastics.
3. Multiple muscle and skin defects flushed and sutured by plastics.
4. Ulnar nerve mildly damaged.
Should be good to go in no time under the watchful eye of the OT and careful rehab

A wee minor bump in the road for Vet Visits…… 😢 I was examining a new patient, an Akita, when it attacked out of the blue, grabbing my wrist hard, fracturing the radius and causing some deep puncture wounds. Receiving excellent care - surgery, xrays and CT at Joondalup, will have to postpone a few visits the week, but I’ll be back out in no time so see y’all soon ❤️‍🩹🦴🤕

Tribute to TAIO ❤️ from his devoted owners……
……..He had a rough start in life, he was 1 of 4 in a litter dumped in a cardboard box outside a vets! We rescued him from SABR under the name of “Pugsley” and renamed him “Taio” meaning long life, which served him well living until just over 13 years old.
He loved living with his little buddy Saba, a chihuahua. As puppies they used to run around doing zoomies! He was so gentle and shared both his bed and food at times with her!
He loved his paddling pool, ice cream, beach walks and belly rubs.
He disliked men in beanies and sunnies lol! and his daddy’s nail gun, you would find him in the shower shaking!
He was a fantastic guard dog, but a jelly baby in real life!
He has left a big hole in our hearts RIP Taio 🌈
