Last but not least meet Mikala another new face joining our reception team!

Originally from Wodonga Mikala moved to Geelong to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Animal Science. She grew up fostering dogs and has previously worked at a doggy daycare so animals have always been a big part of her life.

Mikala also works in ecotourism as a snorkel and surf instructor with Sea All Dolphin Swims where she’s had the opportunity to work around some incredible local marine life, including dolphins, Australian fur seals, Australasian gannets and weedy sea dragons.

Back home she has two Border Collies Jed and Jasper and a blue budgie named Skipper.

Outside of work you’ll usually find Mikala spending time with her housemates, heading down to Jan Juc for a surf or out on Port Phillip Bay running snorkel tours.

We’re so happy to have Mikala joining the Vets of Geelong team!

A little pre surgery cuddle for Felix!

Felix was in at our Lara clinic for his desexing procedure but not before making himself very comfortable with Dr Adam.

Desexing is one of the most common procedures we perform and can have some important benefits for your pet’s long term health. Along with preventing unwanted litters, desexing male dogs eliminates the risk of testicular cancer and can reduce the risk of some prostate conditions as they get older.

Every pet is different so the best age to desex can depend on things like their breed, size and individual health. Our vets are always happy to chat through the right timing for your dog.

As for Felix he seemed pretty happy with his pre surgery arrangements. He might be a little big for a lap dog but we don’t think either of them minded!

Sweet Hazel was in at our Geelong West clinic for her desexing procedure!

She was an absolute little star and got plenty of love and attention from Nurse Izzy during her stay with us.

Happy International Vet Nurse Day to our incredible nursing team!

Today is all about recognising the amazing people who give so much of themselves to caring for our patients every single day.

From the little moments of comfort and reassurance to the long days, difficult cases and everything that happens behind the scenes, your hard work, compassion and dedication never go unnoticed.

You are such an important part of what makes Vets of Geelong so special and we truly couldn’t do what we do without you.

Starla recently visited us for a Grade 1 dental with Dr Jana!

A Grade 1 dental is recommended when there is mild plaque and tartar build-up, but no significant gum disease or tooth damage. Under general anaesthetic, Starla’s teeth were thoroughly scaled and polished to remove build-up and help prevent dental disease from progressing.

Regular dental checks and early intervention can make a big difference in keeping your pet’s teeth and gums healthy long-term.

Meet another one of the newest faces joining our reception team Ava!

Originally from Ballarat Ava has spent much of her life surrounded by animals. Before joining Vets of Geelong she worked on farms and within the horse racing industry, gaining plenty of hands on experience along the way.

Ava is currently working towards beginning her Veterinary Nursing studies, with the goal of becoming a qualified Veterinary Nurse and continuing her career with animals.

Outside of work you’ll usually find Ava with her German Shepherd Todd or her horse Blu. She loves riding, trips to the beach or farm, heading to a rodeo and spending time with friends.

We’re so excited to have Ava as part of the Vets of Geelong team!

Zephyr looking very pleased with himself after his Grade 1 dental!

A Grade 1 dental helps remove plaque and tartar before dental disease progresses, keeping those teeth clean and gums healthy.

The handsome Davey the Labrador and his very proud family graduated from our Junior puppy class recently 🤍

Ready for your pup to join the next class? We have the following Puppy & Adolescent Classes available:

Baby Puppy Classes | 8–12 weeks
• Tuesday 6th of October @ 5.30pm

Junior Puppy Classes | 12–20 weeks
• Thursday 15th of October @ 5pm

Our classes are designed to help build confidence, encourage positive behaviours and give you practical skills to continue at home.

Another new face to welcome to our reception team meet Georgie!

Georgie comes to Vets of Geelong with a background in dog grooming and has also completed her Certificate III in Animal Studies.

At home she has two much loved cats Billie and Stella who she absolutely adores.

Outside of work, Georgie loves spending time with her family, friends and partner, heading out for long walks and going to the gym. And a little fun fact she’s one of five girls, with four sisters!

We’re so happy to have Georgie joining the Vets of Geelong team!
