Surrounded by good water supply and a few surviving feed trees it's so rewarding finding healthy

5 weeks in and thankfully a few cooler days this week. Some challenging country to cover too. Tomorrow we have the remaining side of this expanse to cover then it's off to a new area.

Interestingly between sites, the roadside searching is still producing significant finds 😊

Life.. swamp wallabies (6 plus older joey), eastern Grey's, tiger snakes and epicormic growth.
No s**t or fur finds today... but the evidence of foxes sadly on show..

New site tomorrow and cooler temps too 🧡

That was a Friday..
Large numbers of post-fire s**t, recently deceased Koalas, stunning Fairy Wren and a few cookies, echidnas that are seemingly healthy and feeding well (the ants are everywhere), sambar and fallow deer and a few more green shoots.. it's quiet

..whilst there's no doubt the birdsong has changed, there's still a voice.
The insect life has changed too but in the stillness the chirping of crickets and cicadas is manna.
There's a scurry or few from the small skinks and the larger crevice skinks alike.
The green flash of the caterpillar felt so alien in this landscape..
.life...

It's changed but it's still here, it gives hope 🧡💚🧡

and giving thanks to the wonder that is Caoimhe (Keeva). Safe but challenging conditions and she hasn't wavered, a day rest and she'll no doubt be talking behind my back! Has a love/hate of the camera at times, but boy can she work!
There's still plenty of p**p unsniffed!
