Dental day for Monty and Troy. Thanks Queensland Off The Track!

Happy HEART - Brisbane horses

Smiles all round for Monty and Troy! 🦷🐴

Our boys, both proudly sponsored through the Queensland Off The Track Grant Program, recently had their annual dental check-up, and they handled it like champions.

This year's visit included an overall check, a full dental and mouth examination, sedation, X-rays for Mr Troy and floating (filing) for both geldings.

Did you know horses don't chomp up and down like we do? They grind their teeth in a side-to-side motion, which can create sharp edges and uneven wear over time. That's why regular dental care isn't optional, it's essential for comfort, healthy eating and overall wellbeing.

Monty and Troy weren't worried by the process (excellent patients!) and are now enjoying their feeds even more. 💛

A big thank you to our vets for their excellent care, and to Queensland Off The Track for making this possible for Monty and Troy.

It was a great learning opportunity for our HEART participants and volunteers as well 🙂

Yesterday was Father’s Day in Australia and we wanted to wish a very Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, granddads, and father-figures who show up for HEART - Brisbane🐴💙

Whether you’re a fencing specialist, a hay-packing expert, or the go-to fixer of all things great and small, we see the work you put in for the kids, the ponies, the horses, and the families who make HEART what it is.

Thank you for the quiet hours spent mending gates, hauling feed, and solving problems no one else even notices until they’re fixed. The hours you spend supporting your kids and the horses is appreciated. HEART wouldn’t run without you.

Happy Father’s Day from all of us at HEART! 🧡

🎉 IT’S TROY’S BIRTHDAY! 🎉

Did you know Standardbreds have their own special birthday? While Thoroughbreds celebrate on 1 August each year, all Standardbreds in Australia (and the southern hemisphere) officially turn a year older on 1 September. This is the same idea as the Thoroughbred industry, keeping racing ages the same across the board, disregarding what day and month a horse is born on🎂

Previously known as Abercrombie Jade, Troy raced as a standardbred for many years (never quite the fastest pacer, but he gave it his all)! Troy had an impressive 113 starts during his racing career, with 3 wins, 8 seconds and 10 third places.

Thanks to the support of Queensland Off The Track, he is now retired to a much slower, gentler life, complete with his very handsome Roman nose! That’s the easiest way to identify him in old footage, that Roman nose and his lean. It is hard now to believe this relaxed guy used to be a harness racer!

Troy is just the best therapy boy🐴 He plays a vital role in our therapy program, living his best life these days at HEART - Brisbane, proudly supported by Queensland Off The Track Thoroughbreds Therapy Horse Grant program. Track star turned therapy superhero! 🧡

Massive thanks to our volunteers, supporters, local community and clients who make Troy’s journey possible. 🐎💛

🐴 Hot Off the Press - Exciting News as we are in the new financial year in Australia - https://www.racingqueensland.com.au/news/2026/07-july/successful-qott-grants-program-recipients-unveiled 🐴

We are so delighted and proud to announce that our two beautiful Off-the-Track Therapy Horses at — ‘Troy’, a Standardbred (Racing name - Abercrombie Jade) and ‘Monty’, a Thoroughbred (Racing name - Real Estate) are both successful recipients of the Off-The-Track 2026 Therapy Horse Grant!

This brilliant program supports horses just like Troy and Monty, who had careers on the track with harness and have now both transitioned into their second careers and purpose as therapy horses post racing.

Queensland Off The Track grant supports our therapy boys for a year, helping equine-assisted therapy providers and not-for-profits like ours incorporate these retired racehorses into programs.

Funding can go towards veterinary services, farrier and feed costs — helping us keep Troy and Monty happy and healthy as they continue their important therapy work in our community.

We love giving these boys a second career, and one which they absolutely flourish and thrive in! 💛

Thank you again Off The Track! We are so grateful for your support of our not-for-profit and our beautiful retired racers 🙏

🎉 IT’S MONTY’S BIRTHDAY! 🎉

Fun fact: every thoroughbred in Australia shares the same birthday — 1 August! It’s how the racing industry keeps things fair, ageing every horse together no matter what day or month they were actually born on in a year🎂

This ginger baby was sold at the Magic Millions as a yearling in 2017. During his racing career, Real Estate (as he was known on the track) had 2 wins, 1 second and 4 third places.

In his second career at , now known as Monty, he does not do much quickly - we can assure you he left his speedy racing genes at the track unless he is causing mischief in his paddock with his buddies!

Monty is a proud Queensland Off The Track grant recipient – loving the lifestyle and the vibes of his second career - teaching our clients how to handle a big horse! 🐴

Our gorgeous Monty is celebrating in style today. From the track to therapy work — what a journey, what a legend our Monty is 🧡

Big love to our volunteers, supporters, local community and clients who help Monty thrive every single day🐎💛

P.S. Spot the look — that side eye! It’s a Monty special and we love that he had the look perfected even as a yearling. So Monty! 😄
